Was in guangzhou for 2 days and couldn't get any reception or gps signal on the train all the way and then after reaching almost everywhere had no signal. Where there was a signal it was crawling, like 10 minutes to load a very simple webpage.

Most places showed no signal, those that worked showed China Mobile.

Not sure if this is simba-spacific,, I had another card, a HK sosim card that was just as slow but at least it had a signal in more places.

Mine was working fine in zhu hai and macau, a bit slower than the china telcom hk sim card but still can download android apps. The initial process for the phone to get signal like taking abit longer, like 5mins. After that ok le.

Been using Simba data roaming for past yrs, no problem. I dunno why, this month intermittently data was very slow till could not use. Example when I wanted to order food thru a link in Taipei, wanted to pay via promptpay in BKK, both were unable to but after hrs back to norm. I suspect might be speed throttling.

The performance of your roaming service in a foreign environment has more to do with the foreign mobile network rather than your home network provider. Simba's roaming partners in China are China Unicom and China Mobile.

"Data roaming is usually slower than your home connection because mobile networks prioritise local users over roaming customers. But other factors come into play, too. Network compatibility, congestion, and local signal strength all affect roaming data speed."

Priority lower compared to local users, as what @beanstalk6 mentioned, other various factors comes into play.
But works fine for me when in China, though yes, similar to others pretty slow/hangs intermittently.

I used the bundled mobile data while roaming in Malaysia, Thailand and China. It was satisfactory.

I have used simba free and pay per use auotroaming with no issues at Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xi'an and Chengdu. They also give me free 100 IDD minutes per month.

Was in China, HK and Macau last week.

I bought a Sosim card in HK and switched it for overseas use in China, and also had a Simba card that I use in Singapore everyday.

Both cards were extremely slow in China (Guangzhou and Shenzhen). No problems using them in Macau however.

Even through anything accessed in China was slow, they seemed ok when I scanned QR codes in shops to pay, almost instant response. Also both worked when I used Didi althogh the GPS seek to find your current location was very slow (around 2 minutes before the app can locate you to call a taxi).

Also used both to pay for Metro tickets in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. In Guangzhou generally ok but slow of course, but when in Shenzhen, at a lot of MRT stations I could not get any internet access using both Simba and Sosim cards so I couldn't access alipay to pay for metro tickets. Had to put in bank notes (and the machines don't accept 1 yuan notes, only 5 yuan and up)

In future I will probably buy a China sim card direct on lazada, because I think not a good idea to rely on just one card like Simba.

Have been using Simba in China for more than a year. Only twice or thrice did I encounter a disconnection in network and couldn't connect for days. Other than that, it has been good.

Simba roaming now in Xinjiang. Somehow in the morning to early afternoon, TikTok didn’t work. 2-3pm onwards it worked.
