[Download] Windows 8.1 ISO

Hi all,

Quite a few ppl are asking (both in HWZ and also other sites) for the Windows 8.1 ISO. It has been very difficult trying to get this (pure) from MS but someone has found out how to do it by triggering Microsoft's Windows 8 AND 8.1 official installers. You can see how it is done here.

I have downloaded the ISO for Win 8.1 Pro (x64) and you can get it here if you wish. It is untouched, and comes purely from Microsoft's installer. (Hit this link and scroll to the end)

Note:

• This is similar to my previous post for Win 8 ISOs which has garnered more than 100,000 downloads with zero complaints.
• Do note this is just an official ISO. You will need your own legit Product Key for activation.
• It is not clear if you can upgrade from Windows 8 to 8.1 using the ISO.
• I do not plan to download the x86 (32 bit) version (basically because I don't run any x86 systems). Just follow the instructions above in the first link - it's very easy to DIY.

Yes it is. It's the final version not RTM. (For those confused, RTM for MS has recently not meant final version. After the RTM was released a couple of weeks back, MS rolled out updates into the final version launched on 18 Oct 13)

In fact, it was downloaded just today 48 hours after official launch from MS' servers.

Not sure also... Win7 Ultimate ISO can tweak ei.cfg file to allow you to change the product type, not so sure about Win8 ISO.

The above method means I can directly install Win8.1 with Win 8.0 key?

Is that correct? Or I have still got to install Win 8.0.. Then upgrade to Win 8.1??

Win 7 keys cannot be used for Win 7 SP1 image

Here is how to get the Windows 8.1 ISO and create a USB install stick - Neowin

Use your Win8.0 upgrade key to download the Win8.0 installer assistant first. Once Win8.0 ISO download starts, close the download window and choose to download Win8.1 installer assistant. You will receive the Win8.1 ISO download by then. Upon completion, it would prompt you to choose install now, save to media or desktop for later install. You can even install directly to a new hard disk or reformatted disk with the Win8.1 thumb drive or DVD created.

i downloaded the win 8.1 iso file but when i cant get it to save to my thumbdrive, it only allows to burn to a CD/DVD. can advise how to save to the thumbdrive?

look for a tool called "Windows7-USB-DVD-tool"

Any chance for Win 8.1 Core (standard) ISO? The problem is that I bought a standard licence directly at MS online store but I do not have any windows that would allow me to run official MS (.exe) utility to download the files and make ISO.

I don't want to install this Pro version because it might not accept my core key...

Sorry I don't have a Core system to do the method above. You can follow the instructions (first link in first post) and DIY.

Doubt it. Just add your Media Center code after installation.
Not sure when MS will release slipstreamed ISOs / tools to make these.
