DP to DVI cable

Getting a new monitor with 144hz and notice it has only DP ports.

Previously had a 60z monitor that I ran on DP to DP. However, few months of usage, monitor lost signal and I switched to Hdmi which have no issues. Never checked the issue was from which source ( Monitor, cable or GPU)

Used Dvi-D for a 144hz monitor and no issues.

If the issue is really on my gpu, will send it for rma but don't have the time until June period. Googled for adaptors but realised it requires an active connection to reach 144hz which makes it super expensive. Is there any DP to dvi cable for 144hz to recommend and where to buy (prefer off the shelf or same day collection. Any other stuff I should look out for?

Its confirm my gpu dp port spoiled, sian.

But surprisingly, a cheap hdmi 1.4a cable (purchased from lazada a long time ago)

runs 1920x1080p PC mode @144hz

did motion blur test, swing my mouse cursor around and test ingame, its working? Thought can only go up to 120hz for hdmi

120hz should give a similar visual feel to 144hz imo, as in they will probably look the same to any people, unlike 60hz vs 144hz, 60hz feels super lag to me now

Will I need a new cable?
NO! Well, probably not. Here is the exact quote from HDMI.org: "Version 2.0 of the HDMI Specification does not define new cables or new connectors. Current High Speed cables (category 2 cables) are capable of carrying the increased bandwidth." Emphasis mine. Here's another direct quote: "HDMI 2.0, which is backwards-compatible with earlier versions of the HDMI specifications..."

Version 2.0 (like 1.4 before it) is entirely a hardware change. It is not a cable change. You can expect cable manufacturers to proclaim that you need expensive new "Version 2.0 cables" but this is untrue. Your current High Speed cables should work just fine.

I hedge with "should" as if the cable isn't fully up to the High Speed spec, it might not work. In this case, you might get dropouts or sparkles (as discussed in this article). If you do, a different but not more expensive HDMI cable should work just fine.

It's worth mentioning, again, that 4K HDMI cables are nonsense.

TLDR: only the connectors at the device end has different versions, buy any cable, can plug in will work, only hdmi has different cable types (high-speed, standard speed etc.)

Yep thats true. Previous monitor tested 120hz vs 144hz at the same time, the differences are not noticeable in normal setting unless one looks for it.

But my nvidia control panel and testufo site shows it as 144 refresh rate? I believe hdmi can run 144 but not an official spec due to bandwidth etc. It's just not consistent enough as compared to 120hz as I do get drops.
