i always advise my cruise passengers going KI to keep hoodie on or @ least windbreaker. esp now looks like weather going to be cooling, plus wind blow, it might be unbearable.

no need thick winter jacket for SGrean. steady one we hoot one adidas windbreaker can chiong liao.

Disclaimer! unless peak of winter or ppl who detest cold then maybe consider bring a thick jacket.

Is it advisable to drive from Melbourne to like another city and return the car there?
Are there any charges for doing so?
Because i don't really want to drive in the city area, renting the car for a day just to travel between cities. Trying to see which is cheaper.

Define another city? Returning rental car at different location will incur additional charges..

KI weather is as good as melb imho

Given that Melbourne has 4 seasons in a day, it can't get much worse.

And keep in mind that the ferry can be very bumpy. I was on one where more than half the pax became merlions. Also, it takes about 2 hours to drive from one end of the island to the other end - it's a big place after all.

There are also direct flights to Kingscote on KI from Melbourne and Adelaide. They aren't much more expensive than the ferry itself. Although if you book both the ferry and accommodation from the ferry's company, they sometimes offer discounts.

Just wait till you see the traffic on North Terrace during peak hour, or Hindley Street on Friday night. Not exactly somewhere you would want to take a car through at those times.

I would only do so if you have specific reasons, or if you can get one of those (very) last-minute one-way relocation rentals, or if you are indeed planning for a long road trip, staying at multiple places on the way. If you're just commuting to another city, after adding in the time, the extra one-way fees, and the cost of fuel, you may find flying to be a better alternative. Of if you must use the roads, coaches are available.

Rented car from Adelaide and return in Melbourne.. no additional charges. Have rented from Apex.

the local help me to book the KI ferry using the voucher from entertainment booklet. got 25% discount. I will also be driving the car from Adelaide to KI via ferry.

did u made aware at the rental that u will be doing that? ade to KI?

alot of them have restrictions / extra surcharge on driving to KI. the gravel will ruin the car base. thats y all my local pals usually park their own car at KI port and rent another car at KI to drive.

I had a rental car the other time when I was in Adelaide, and rather than paying for the car to go on the ferry - the ticket price is crazy, I parked it at port and had a second rental car on KI.

This question is about underground garages in the CBD. If for e.g., I enter a secure carpark for overnight parking which is say, $12 until 5.59 a.m.

If I do not leave the carpark by 6 a.m., will I continue to be charged only at the hourly rate? Or will there be some extra charges?

I'm sure you'll be charged once night parking is over..

If in Melbourne, you can park overnight on the street free from 730 or 830 onwards..

Very rarely would anyone has a need to park in a parking station overnight and pay for it themselves. Hotels without car parks can have special deals with parking stations nearby and would offer flat rates for each day.

Street parking is good enough, don't bother paying for night parking..
