Just leave it on. It's not like it consumes that much electricity either.

Why would it explode?

The power consumption is so low, around 5 to 10 watts depending on how big your dry cabinet is. That is not going to cause any fire... They should be worried about the fridge if so, or do not tell me you have no fridge at home...? :s22:

I have been keeping mine on 24/7 since November 2010, with an 80L...

practise common sense when placing it and you'll be fine

dont cluttter the box with other flammable items i.e. stacks of newspapers or curtains touching the rear portion where the power is

dont overload your power plug etc

basically do the same type of housekeeping and precaution as with all other household electrical products

IIRC, refrigerator got flammable gas, some more in the kitchen ! :s13:
Anyway, if really cannot 24 hours, can try to switch off from 11am to 3pm. The humidity should be quite low during those time.

Each time they turn off your cabinet, you go turn off the fridge?

Or maybe lock your room?

Ask them why they want to make you so special - only person who turn off dry cabinet. Also, print a few pictures of fungus lenses and show them.

P.S. I have 2x dry cabinet - always on.
