I have 2 AMD GPUs in my rig with 2 monitors plugged into each graphics card, 4 screens in total.
I am not running crossfire.

I can't seem to utilize both graphics card simultaneously, unless I run full screen applications.

Here is what I have noticed:

1) For Eyefinity & Crossfire, all monitors must be plugged to the same GPU.

2) Regardless of which monitor my applications are on, only the primary GPU is used/has load. The exception is if I run a full screen application on the monitor connected to the secondary GPU, then the 2nd GPU will be used.

Question: Is there a way for the usage of the GPU to be based on what applications are running on the monitors that are connected to the particular GPU? (window applications, not full screen)

No. No way. I never heard ppl do this before. PC register only one card as MASTER card and the rest as SLAVE. so what you trying to do now is wanting both of them to run as MASTER. dont think you could do that.

I thought all monitors must be on the primary card to work?

Windowed applications won't utilize both GPUs.

Nope monitors can be plugged into the secondary GPU too, just that the primary GPU still does the work.

So the slave GPU is only used when in full screen?

If I can't do it natively, can I run a software that will enable me to do that?
Ultramon only affects displays, not GPU right?

u 1 the 2 gpus to work together?
this is the setup
go google on crossfire
i neber used crossfire i am not sured what is the physical setup

I know what is crossfire.
If you read my post carefully, you will understand why I am not running crossfire.
And Crossfire only utilises both GPU in full screen mode.

I used to have 2 monitor, 1 each into a separate GFX card.
my 2 old GFX card does not have dual output.

as long as using winxp and above you can spann your desktop...
as long as your desktop is spanned, you can maximise any windowed application across both screen.

or maybe i did not understand your question.
