Just thought we can have a thread for dual SIM phones, for easier reference and discussion. ;)

So far I know 3 are available in our local market; any other contributions are most welcome. :)

I'm currently using the HTC Desire V, with a friend using the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos. More through choice of brands and budget, as there aren't many in our market to choose from. :)

Now I seem to see the latest - Sharp SH530U - having a bigger screen and better specs, which will be a plus for someone looking to do more on his/her phone than just the reason of having dual SIM convenience. ;)

The Sony Tipo Dual has no dual stand-by? I find this to be a very useful feature. :o

I'm using the HTC Desire V, but hope to get a dual-SIM phone with a bigger screen, and from a reputable brand instead of any China ones. :)

So far for the dual-SIM phones that I've come across, only the SIM in Slot 1 can use 3G.

Not sure about those China-made brandless ones though.

are there any kind of dual sim phones with LTE support?

ie: one sim on LTE, the other on regular? and able to do so concurrently, not those on single standby type.

Just an update with my latest experience:

You can choose to have data connection via SIM 1 or SIM 2 - only one SIM at any one time.

Whatsapp, Viber, etc, can then be used via the data connection of whichever SIM you've chosen.

Example:
I've Singtel line as SIM 1, and Maxis line as SIM 2.
Over here, under the SIM Card Manager > Data Service Network option, I choose to use SIM 1.
When I go across the causeway, I'll switch the Data Service Network to SIM 2.

Whatsapp, Viber, etc, is then used as per normal, once I get the data connection.

I am using a Samsung Grand Quattro dual sim phone with 4.7" screensize that I brought in KL several months ago. Am using Sim1 for my Singtel line and Sim2 for my Malaysia number... working perfectly well that I could activates both Sims on at the same time (except that I can't pick both lines simultaneously... LOL). Whatsapp, Viber, We Chat, etc... works perfectly well too... loving it...

BTW, wifey is using the Samsung Grand dual sim phone with 5.5" screensize. Cool :)

I think he means whether can use whatsapp or viber on two different numbers.

The answer is no. You can only use on one number.

Hello all,

Ok most dual sim phone have either 3G or 2G slots. 2 G always sucks when you swap sim card.

Such slots are seen in most dual sim phones. ie Note 3 dual, Lenovo S930 etc etc.

However, 2 phones that i know have used ie Samsung Mega and Grand 2 have a unique implementation meaning that both sim card slot are 3G capable. In short, you dont need to swap sim card. but merely change the network band when you switch the data sim card.

Those who uses dual sim phones will normally swap sim when if they are need the 3g as 2 g really cannot make it.

For those that travel frequently you should know what im talking about.

As of now, the highest spec dual sim is note3 - N9002 (however no warranty and have to be rooted)

The 2 samsung i mentioned are availble with local warranty if you can live with lower specs.

Normally, those with dual sim of different country will have a single whats app number so in short you can only run 1 Whats app number so you lose the other whats app number.

There is a workaround and you can have two whats app number running simultaneously, but now i got to run. If i have time i share more later.

Cheers and happy travelling and choosing which dual sim phone.
