I went for a week in Jan 17. I would think that cash in AED is more useful. When you are out of the city like Desert area, you probably will need cash.
My cash mainly use for cab, food, desert area / souk place to buy scarfs, market to buy dates etc
You can use credit card at shopping mall, resturant, hotel etc... but the exchange rate will not be that good. Depends on your needs! :D

Will be going to Dubai for a week. And hoping to visit the exotic Arabic Souqs. But I don't think I can spend all week visiting markets..

Is there any particular few that I should not miss?

Very nice sunset

Returned to Dubai and then stayed at the Number One Tower Suites. My room faces directly into Sheik Zayed Road (affectionately known as SZR). Opposite is the Rolex Tower and the Emirates Grand Hotel which is the sister building to the Warwick Hotel next to it.

At sunrise I captured this from my balcony. The UAE architecture is very unique. Seems like the planners have a concept and are willing to execute the plan to make the most chio looking building ever. The buiding here is one of the Dubai Park Towers. They form a pair and the other one is blocked by the Rolex Tower that is on the right. Most of them have this "sail" look that is popularized by the Burj Al Arab. Even the main telecom tower that is near to the city center is also in this "sail" concept.

I also visited the Jumeirah Open Beach but only did so in the day time. Maybe I wanted to see bikinis. At night the view will even be better. From this beach you can see SZR and all its buildings.

Spice souk. If you do cooking, get saffron. The stuff is worth its weight in gold.

looks like defunct haiz...

Don't waste time in those places. Just visit SZR. Rent car and drive. Marvel at the buildings. Visit Burj Khalifa. Go to desert and have safari. Go Dune bashing. Visit their beaches. Especially the one next to the Burj al Arab and take pictures of it like you are staying there. :s13:

Visit Atlantis. Mega 7* hotel. Dubai Mall is like tokong huge and with super atas shops. Quite different China malls which are huge with not many atas shops.

May I ask how many days did you went and how much did you spent?

Is it better to join a tour group or just go on my own?
