I was wondering, a private's pay is the same as a recruit's pay. How would people who usually stay out survive himself with just $480 monthly on transport, food, bills and etc etc? Is it ever possible to get a freelance job outside during their free time?

you are not allowed to get involved in any other jobs. by doing so will result u in court martial.

I see remember some of my unit mates, spend so much money on don't know what until don't even have money to buy cigarettes, still need to go around ask for cigarettes...LOL

few years ago where the recruit's allowance was only $400, yet many all survived.

the time in NS is not only about serving the nation, but also about being disciplined in your own finances.

I heard 3SG with $700 saying not enough as well. It's not the amount, it's how you plan your financials.
