Hi HWC,

I don't know if this thread is in the correct place or not but I searched for related post and they were posted here so I guess I shouldn't be too far off the grid. There's a thread about dusting pc but it's like a few months old and I don't want to dig or necro that thread. I'll just start a new one.

I recently purchased a datavac ED 500 from Amazon and after all the waiting and what not only to find out that it's 120v and not compatible with Singapore voltage usage... so I sent it back for a full refund.

But I'm still in need of one blower or something like it to clean out my pc. I don't wish to spend on compressed air because it's expensive in the long run... but getting the datavac locally is expensive as well. I'm thinking of getting a Stanley brand blower, a Stanley Blower Stel 680. Anyone heard of it before? It cost only about $50. But I'm not sure if it's appropriate for cleaning PC unlike datavac where it's marketed to clean PC.

Any answers or tips would be nice!

Thank you :s12:

I purchased mine from B&H also.. I use it along with 99% isopropyl alcohol wipes for dirt that cannot be removed by blowing

Hi guys thanks for the replies!

Yeah I know the datavac works like a charm but problem is buying it locally for $159 is just too steep! I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative.

Which is why I'm asking the bros here if anyone has used a stanley blower for it before haha. It looks like an industrial leaf blower... afraid it might be too strong for PC cleaning.

P.S: I know this isn't appropriate but anyone wanna buy it from B&H and share the shipping cost?

Check VRZ MO section, see if that guy is still bringing in... IIRC, it was around $10x. Not sure if its still open or not.

@shadow84 Yeah I checked there as well... cheapest is $116 but need to wait for people then he'll place order and wait and everything take up to 2-3 weeks. There's another guy selling at $159. So yeah... Heard there used to be one MO for it going at $80+

Just trying to find a cheaper lobang.

Or you can buy Blowoff canned compressed air. 15 per can. T258jgn is selling them. I used 2 cans and a bottle of contact cleaner for the dustiest rig.

That $80+ MO was due to Amazon selling it and they sent the 220v instead of 110v. After a while, amazon realised and changed accordingly. Then, ppl didnt realised and got the wrong set in which some ppl made a big hooha.

All the while, I have been cleaning my 2 desktops without Datavac ED 500 duster. All I need are the following:
1. cotton sticks
2. damp cloth
3. Guardian IPA
4. Water spray
5. Hair dryer
6. Thermal Grease
7. Free time

Thanks for the replies :)

I guess I'll just wait for the MO or get compressed air then. Thank you guys :)

bookmark this thread. I am also interested in getting rid of the dust in my CPU cooler. but very troublesome to take it out to clean. I need a more convenient way to sort of get rid some of the dust while installed....

anyone know how?

Remove the CPU fan and use the duster to blow through the heatsink fins.

wow didn't know I'll get such replies in my thread :s12:

anyway I've placed an order with this guy called milirado on VR-Zone for the datavac ed500 costing at 116 including delivery.

downside to that is the waiting time though... so if you're rich and can't wait to get your hands on this I'd recommend buying it for $159... :)

I still think in the long run it'll be better than buying canned air at 15 per pop.
