Toshiba is now primarily used in business / enterprise sector. Seldom seen for commercial markets.

i thought so too when i went into the dynabook website, but then again, i notice people like best denki, courts and those also start sellling them.. looking at this, mayb they are making a comeback..

hope wont be another Sony whereby just 1 model and go silent again..

Yep. I was quite tempted to get a Toshiba one the other time, it was only about 3xx on carousell - for a 7th / 8th gen i5/i7.

anyone notice about the above brand?

was looking ard for laptop on lazada to check pricing and came across this brand.

dig further, realise it's the old Toshiba.

https://asia.dynabook.com/

i remember last time Toshiba the notebook quite good quality but pricing also quite expensive.

the link on Lazada

Sharp acquired 80% of Toshiba's PC business. Sharp itself was acquired by Foxconn some years back.

I was considering this but some reviews remarked that the keyboard did not have backlighting which is important to me.

Fixconn only took over Sharp LCD.

I think the major barrier to this brand is that parts might be difficult to find out of warranty because it's not common.

Toshiba was also notoriously against customers obtaining the service manuals online for DIY repairs, and from my quick check on the Dynabook website this doesn't seem to have changed.

Gotten the unit. So far so good. i ordered the i7 / 8GB / 256SSD + 1TB specs.

think the ports are abit limited. only 2 USB 3 port and 1 type C. it would be good to have more slot. on the plus side, there is a direct Micro SD card reader without using adaptor. much more convenient.

let's have a look at the exterior first.

Top with measurements. no measuring tape so make do with 1 long ruler.

Left side features the charging port, RJ45, HDMI, USB 3, 1 type C for charge and transfer data and also audio port.

right side feature 1 laptop lock, ventilation vents, USB 3 port and the Micro SD slot which i mentioned earlier.

Now for internal

Whats-App-Image-2020-05-01-at-11-56-10-1.jpg

opening up the silver cover to reveal the ram. slight disappointment. only 1 slot available.

no dual channel and it means if upgrade, need to buy 1 piece of 16GB

Whats-App-Image-2020-05-01-at-11-56-10-2.jpg

take note SSD is M.2 and also the 1TB is 5400RPM only.. would be much happier if it's 7200RPM.

The small things that can stop you using the laptop lor, like the hinge or power button. If the hinge or power button breaks and you can't get a replacement part you effectively can't use the laptop anymore.
