i got a secondary rig as HTPC and some gaming (FPS and sports games)

i just got a R7 250 1GB couple of months back.

felt slight lag and drops in frame rates when playing sniper ghost warrior 2.

reason why i chose GTX950 i suppose its the best performing gfx card under 400W.

my PSU is 400W and do not wish to change it.

will upgrading to GTX 950 see a significant performance change or it will still be the same as its bottleneck by the E8400?

appreciate constructive advise. :o

UDPATE:

Hi, as advised from a fellow forumer here. i tried to buy a XEON X5472 from aliexpress but the package failed to deliver.

tried overclocking the E8400 but i failed as it makes the system unstable. refused to boot at times. not sure if its the P965 chipset issue or the RAM

Currently I found someone selling Q9550 @ S$70. Would appreciate some advise if the upgrade is worthy over E8400 for gaming?

most likely would not consider upgrading GPU at the moment.

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Pentium-G4560-vs-Intel-Core2-Quad-Q9550/3892vsm334

Even Entry Level CPU G4560 is 40% faster than Q9550.
Advice you to tong for it to come out then upgrade CPU + MOBO + RAM

Q9550 @ S$70 is seriously overpriced.

It's not worthwhile to upgrade the CPU for LGA775 and certainly not at $70 for Q9550. I sold a Q9450 for $40 a few months back when clearing spare parts.

As for GPU, I would go for the GTX1060 3GB at around S$250 after Qoo10 coupons. This is the cheapest option if you want current gen cards with some oomph.

A better fit would be GTX 660Ti to 680 cards. Should be around $100 to $140.

Ok appreciate the advice, too bad that guy won't budge the price of the CPU.

Guess I will jus make do with what I have now.

And Happy New Year to you guys!!
