Early 2011 MacBook Pro, Battery Bloated

My MBP's AppleCare warranty just ran out.

Shortly before that, I noticed the Trackpad is hard to depress. Since I seldom use the MBP, I ignore the defect and continue to use my Mouse to navigate instead.

Just after the AppleCare has expired, I find the Trackpad cannot be depressed unless using a lot of force. A quick Google search reveals the battery must have be bloated.

So I open up the MBP to check and sure enough, the Trackpad is fine but the Battery seating directly underneath has bloated to the point the Trackpad cannot be depressed.

My questions are... can I go claim AppleCare now?

If not, where can I get a replacement battery at a good price?

Can try talk nicely to Apple if just over few days and try to appeal see if they are ok. Else you have to self replace or find outside shops.

Give AppleCare a call and ask nicely if they are able to give a repair exception since your APP just ran out. Don't go about demanding it and hopefully there would be a positive outcome out of it.

but dun worry, this thing can replace on your own very easily and its not expensive

Any idea how much is battery replacement?

I also have the same battery bloating issue with my 2011 MBP which only surface recently. However, I dont have any applecare.

the last time i bought the part for mbp 2009, it was $65, should be about that price.

bought from sim lim. ebay can be cheaper by a few dollars. up to you

Brand new genuine Apple battery should have between 5600-5800mah. The one that the shop is selling is a compatible battery with just 4200mah (about 26% lower capacity). I do not recommend anyone to get compatible battery for Apple Macbook coz compatible cells tend to have lower cell count and cycle life.

i believe this is the same shop I went to. Battery,batteries,battery charger,notebook battery


personally, for this item, unless its nearer half price, i will get it locally, so that if anything happens, its easier to resolve.
