The Malaysian Meteorological Department said it will continue to monitor the situation closely.

A similar advisory was issued by the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) at 1:13am, noting that the earthquake struck approximately 1,509 km off the coast of Singapore.

MSS also noted that no tremors have been reported and there is no tsunami advisory.

On Reddit, some forum users purportedly across parts of the island felt tremors in the early morning.

In a post at around 1:13am on Feb. 13, about 16 minutes after the earthquake, one user claimed to have felt swaying in the East Coast area.

A Facebook user also reportedly experienced swaying in Toa Payoh.
