Hi there for those who applied for EC, has anyone go through an appeal due to income ceiling? I have already submitted my appeal to HDB through the developer explaining my situation. It has been 2 months since, so I was wandering how long it typically takes to know the outcome? Is HDB or the developer that will inform you the result?

My approval took 4 months. My agent is the one who informed me. After which received S&P from law firm within a week.

Extracted from HDB Website:
Selling of current HDB/ DBSS flat in the open market
You and your family members listed in the flat application must dispose of the existing flat within 6 months from when the EC's Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) was issued.

Under HDB rules and in normal circumstances, you can't own an EC and HDB at the same time. You will need to sell your HDB flat within six months after receiving the keys for your EC. Though some may ask for extension, guess up to 3 months if they need more time to sell their existing flat. As far I know, haven't heard a case like your relative.

thanks! did hdb called you up for clarification during your waiting period?

I known of a case also took about 3-4 months to appeal for income ceiling. Agent will ask for your detail if need further clarification. As long your income did not exceed the ceiling by too much, most likely you will get it given current EC supply availability

if you exceed less than $500, should be quite safe. mine was higher than $500 but luckily still got approved. maybe now over supply so easier to get approval? or maybe bcoz my EC is near to my parent's place. I quoted that as a reason for my appeal.

Yup, now the government wants the children to take care of their parents as the problem of the ageing population is getting worse. I also quote that as a reason when I am appealing as my MOP is 6 months away. Of course, it is true as I want my parents to stay with me :)

Paid down payment and developer will help you submit the appeal. If appeal didn't get through, developer will refund down payment paid.

Usually, before the launch or ballot day, the showroom will open 2 weeks earlier. You can visit the showroom within these 2 weeks and see if your agent and the developer are willing to appeal for you.

Mine is more than $500 as well but I hope my reasons are valid and good enough for them to consider. Will see how then and hope for the best. *Fingers crossed*

Hi, please check with your agent if the developer has submitted your appeal. Mine got delayed because some documents were missing in the first time I submitted the appeal through my agent. The documents went missing at the developer's side, and we had to sign additional copies.

My entire process took 6 months, which is about twice the normal waiting time because the first appeal was rejected due to missing documents. My appeal was deemed mostly straightforward with a company letter stating the actual salary.

Hence, you may have to wait about 3 months before you get the outcome.

Thanks for the advice..my agent did informed me that the developer has submitted my appeal around mid-Oct last year.. Sorry to hear that you need to do it twice but glad you still got it end of the day. For my case, should be coming to 3rd month, so just got to wait patiently. :)
