i've asked NSC doctor b4 about allergy test as i wanted to do, but i was advised not to because the doctor said there are so many possible allergens (dustmite, food, weather) that it is almost impossible to find out which is the trigger for the flare-up.. in the end i just keep using steroid (damn strong) ointments..

Prolong using of steroid ointment or take steroid tablet is bad for kidney, worst if you are diabetes.

My "itchy" condition started 2-3 years ago, all the western doctors i visited either gave me steroid jab, antihistamine jab, steroid cream or both steroid and antihistamine oral medication. Later on a visit to the Chinese sinseh that cured my 1000 days persistence cough revealed that he has a lot of patients from all over asia countries seeing him for their "itchy" allergy. According to him this itchiness cannot be totally cure but can be control under medication. Different people different trigger condition(s), mine was due to weak stomach and wet humid weather, whenever my bowel movement is soft and smelly, the itch will resurface. Prolong raining will also trigger the itch. His medicine for me is to get rid of the wetness in my body and improve my bowel. It helps. During those extremely itchy outbreak, i will take "Telfast" to lessen the itch. Non-drowsy.

my gf have been taking steroids for few months. it always get well for the first 2 weeks but the rashes always comes back after that. she also researched and realised using too much steroids is not good. sigh, heartache to always see her so sad cause her while face, arms and legs will be very red. n people at school will give her weird look. sigh.

Cetaphil Restoraderm Moisturizer

i am buying the above from Amazon for my Eczema skin. Locally the price is crazy as compared to what Amazon is offering. Understand that many fellow edmwer are also suffering from the same condition as i am, this Cetaphil Restoraderm is recommended to me saying that the series is very good for Eczema.

Natzema didn't work for me. yes, it's non steroid and the smell is herb-like, quite nice, but it didn't work, at least not as effectively as Combiderm, which is a steroid cream. Put a few days of Natzema, almost no effect. Put one thin layer of Combiderm, next day dry up and healing, like magic.

Combiderm is a very potent steroid and it creates dependency after a while. After using combiderm for the past 1-2 years, its not effective anymore and wont work. Then the dermatologist keeps giving even more potent steroids and then oral steroids. I have been reading up on eczema and it causes. Apparently, what we long-term sufferers are going through is not eczema, but rather topical steroid withdrawal. Steroids suppress the inflammation, but is not the cure as it will just rebound back again no matter what you do. Eczema is not supposed to go past teenage years in the 1950s. It is only after steroids that are invented in the 1950s that we have this problem here. Please see the video below, I am currently going through what they call Topical Steroid Withdrawal (No steroids at all). It is terribly painful physically and mentally. But after 1 year, it will go away 100%. I have tried all sorts of methods you may name it, TCM and all sorts of medication. After reading through some of the blogs and evidence, for the first time I can see a definite answer, but it wont be easy. The dermatologists tell you there is no cure, after reading this website and watching the video, let me know again... Good luck to all

Besides applying combiderm for the begining few days...
i also apply a tree oil moisturizer from Melaleuca...Renew Intensive Skin Therapy.
Within a week...my eczema is cured completely.

To all fellow eczema sufferers out there, if you are applying/eating steroids for not more than 2 weeks and you dont suffer anymore rashes, then congrats... Most likely its just a common rash that everyone will have now and then...

But if you take steroids for more than 2 weeks, months and years and the main problem does not go away even when you are an adult, then you are topical steroid addicted. Visit ITSAN Eczema Non Profit: Red Skin Syndrome: Corticosteroid Addiction and Withdrawal for more info. There is a cure, but it is not easy.

Please please please stay away from steroids as much as possible, it is a potent and dangerous drug, and dermatologist give it out like free when they dont know about the addiction or side effects (thinning of skin etc but this is the least you need to worry about). I know because I have a "pharmacy" of eczema drugs collected at home... Steroids are NOT the answer and should not taken unless its a life/death situation eg. asthma attack puffs... If you have a small rash and the doctor wants to give you steroids, please reject it. It is going to cause more problems when you are older...

The reason steroids work wonders for recovery is because they suppress your blood vessels and make the skin "normal" colour again... But blood vessels will definitely come up again because its what they do... Then you will need stronger and stronger steroids and to the point where it dont work anymore... Taking steroids only makes your son's body addicted to the drug. It is absorbed by the skin...

I dont know how old is your son, but if he is just a kid, he will outgrow it like 99.9% of people by teen years. You never heard of eczema people before steroids became popular and only when people can afford them do you start hearing all sorts of problems.
