Wanna see OpenVPN performance, ERL wasn't so great since it had an old CPU

OpenVPN is a resource hog. If you want performance use the l2tp/IPsec VPN option. I read somewhere that there is a script for the edgerouter series that adds wireguard VPN and it performs even better than ipsec.

How does it compare to USG P3? My USG run uncomfortably hot. However, when I attach a fan to the vent, the temp drops quite well to room temp. But a fan, no matter how silent, is still noisy

I use a laptop cooler for my edgerouter lite. I don't hear the fans even when it is dead quiet

They dun deliver to cgw vpost. So LLST have to find alternative vendors. I'm not sure how much it sells locally, realised I dun really save much buying locally vs from Amazon/BH etc.

Sometimes not worth the trouble and might as well buy from SLS

There is a retailer here selling it for $300

With 2 cores of an i5 2400 I can barely manage 100-150Mbps. I doubt the ethernet will be a bottleneck for the raspberry pi.
OpenVPN is single threaded, I get about 100-140 Mbps on my i5 5250U.

Will probably get better throughput with IPSec/L2TP. :s12:

iirc, the throughput is about 5-10Mbps when i tried running an openVPN server on a rpi.

I used to run openVPN on an orange pi and get around 15-20Mbps. It's technically slower than a pi 3. What pi version you use to run openVPN?

Hmm ..

ERL3 running OpenVPN throughput i've seen on a couple of sites, are at best 20Mbps - max.

Apparently due to a CPU limitation - that's why a higher processor always trumps in this use case.

The ERL4 remains to be seen.

Can't remember whether I used the rpi or rpi3, could be closer to 15Mbps too.

It's quite a while back since I've had that setup. :s12:

Ever considered UniFi security gateway? Can consolidate all your UniFi products to the web interface

It has 1x WAN and 2x LAN.
Personally using ERL with a cheap TPlink switch, works well.

There is no built in switch on the USG, so both LAN ports will not be on the same subnet. USG die die need to connect to another switch.

Same case as my ERL but PCs have no issue communicating between the 2 ip ranges

Eg.
Raspberry Pi PiHole DNS - 192.168.1.3
PC - 192.168.2.40
