The staff at the start of the q dammed bochupped when show sg passport and say egate, she juz direct me over to foreign Q. Move to the centre abit some singaporean asked another staff and we will let thru to use the auto gate. Noticed some Singaporean can’t use the auto gate will directed to the counters at the right. It’s still alot faster than the normal Q.

overall sibei shiok when you see long long q and yet you breeze thru immigration

Usually those manning the q one is intern. Most of them have no idea that hkg and sgp can use e gate at Suvarnabhumi Airport thats why they always just direct foreign passport to normal immigration queue.

Yes, if one does not fill return ticket info then will get flagged and directed to manual.
Tried and tested. :s13:

I saw many commented that recently the queue for arrival immigration is super long wait.. easily like 2 hrs at least..

So just want to confirm anyone recently manage to skip the long queue and enter the egate section using sg passport?

I was asked to join the normal queue last Dec saying the egate machine was down... dunno is it working now??

It’s working, I m there last Saturday. Manage to use the e gate. But the front Q staff direct me to the foreign passport Q despite me showing her my passport and told her I m using the egate. It’s down the Q another staff let us thru to the egate.

Here's my take on the E-Gates experience at Suvarnabhumi... :geek:

Arrival :
=======
  • Landed at around 8am. Headed for Arrivals & Immigration using Concourse D.
  • Walked in calmly with my visible Singapore Passport to the E-Gates meant for Thai nationals. Filtered into the lanes for displaying Singapore & Hong Kong passports.
  • Selected the bottom 60-Day entry option. Initial face recognition had failed as i had not removed my spectacles as it DID prompt for removal of sunglasses or eyewear during the scan.
  • Moved to another free lane as other fellow passengers encountered prompts too. This time i had to deliberately slow down to match the instruction prompts and scanning of the passport. Took off the spectacles and pause any eye blinks during the facial recognition phase.
  • Upon successful passenger authentication, gates will issue the entry permit slip with 60-Days of stay. :cool:
Not too lucky experience and pointers :rolleyes:-
  • Friend with same Singapore passport went through both lanes with same instruction prompt to approach Immigration Officer.
  • Friend had not entered Thailand previously with the current passport.
  • No choice but to clear immigrations just like the regular hordes of arriving travellers. Luckily did not need to wait over an hour.

Departures :
===========
  • After baggage drop-off with Scoot, staff still presented the regular boarding pass although he saw me having the thermal paper slip issued by the check-in kiosk.
  • Scanned the Regular boarding pass to enter the escalators leading to security check.
  • Went down again to the departure lanes for E-Passport. Having remembered the entry experience, just Slow Down & remove any eyewear as prompted.
  • Breezed through successfully & head to VAT refund counters.

Summary :
==========
  1. Information required by TDAC in order to use Automated Lanes must be duly filled.
  2. SLOW DOWN your pace even more when facing prompts to approach immigration officer. Use another lane when available. If all else fails, just go over to the manned counters. Don't frustrate at the start of the trip.
  3. Follow all instruction by uniformed officers. They KNOW their system better than us. It is AT THEIR DISCRETION to allow expedited clearance for certain parts of the day. Our passport may be recognised globally BUT not having to factor time for manual clearance & slow baggage claim with an expectation to use automated lanes is still very much on the traveller's responsibility. :sneaky:

I last entered BKK in April 2025 via manual counters. However, I just gotten a new passport this year. High chance that I would still need to use manual counters before being able to use the e-gates right?

Juz go use, if can’t used the egate move over to the right manual counter for priority lanes or family . It’s usually faster than the normal lanes.

than again if an immigration officer is there just follow his or her instructions.

i have similar experience recently at Suvarnabhumi airport. Shown my Sg passport was not allowed to go into E gate lane. Likely an intern staff. However further up the Q, i just lift the flap off the retractable Q barrier and join the e Gate Q. Many people did that too. Was successful with the 60 days option at the E gate.

The lady in front of me in the e gate Q is also Singaporean. Tried many times but not successful. I tried to tell her nicely (as she is holding up the Q) it will not work if you are here for the first time or with a new passport but she did not listen and insist she was here before. Eventually after few minutes, LL got to go over to manual Q.
