yah, no sms from eight, but got popup from vendor, and refresh of account web page shows updated main balance - good enough for now but a confirmation sms from eight would be even better.
simba got notification and will email the receipt when top up

Any idea what happens if I roam in a country that is not in the APAC list on a $0 plan ?
Or roam in the international list when my international Data is exhausted ?
Or roam in a country that is not in any of eight's list ?

Will it simply not work or will there be charges ?

don't think it will work. You need to buy the pack. It's not like simba where it will be deducted from the wallet.

Ok, good to know, thanks.
The point is to ensure it doesn't work so that there won't be accidental charges.
I don't need it to work.

did a main balance to up, no sms notification from eight.

Here's hoping their systems dont get a hiccup and forget my balance. That's why sms and/or email notification would be preferred.

The free $8 will be credited within 7 days correct?

Because I just top-up using shoppee seller . My balance in the eight account shows only $8. I presume another $8 will come in within next 7 days ?

  • No promotion code is needed across online channels and retailer outlets, eligible customers will receive $8 credits within 7 business days into the main wallet.

Just log in to your account to check the balance. I did.

as mentioned above, i refreshed immediately after the vendor pop-up acknowlegement, and the balance was updated, but this is based on thier database. if their database c*ckup, then the balance could be reset. sms and/or email would be better acknowledgement.

Just checking. Do you guys take esim or physical? What considerations? I will be keeping my existing line, but will subscribe to Eight for the Apac roaming &IDD, like that take esim better right?

For me i took physical as my phone doesn't support esim. I think esim is better if you are scared of it getting lost but physcial sim allows you to switch sim cards to different phones much faster. I think esim activation is also faster but read some ppl got issue with the qr code on fb, while physical sim if self collect is the fastest. For me i did phy sim delivery. The IDD and roaming is the same for physical and esim if im not wrong so personal choice for which to use.

Yes, if you are not in hurry, but take note that you will need to activate your SIM when you receive the SIM card, only than the porting instructions will be fired up. Noticed there are lots of people here with porting issues after receiving SIM card, as this activating after receiving has some issues with some telcos.

Best is to sign up at the shop / service centre or get esim. Once you signed up, the activation of the SIM is immediate.

Just like last time when there is only Singtel Starhub and M1, we go down their shop to get SIM card. Best to go collect yourself since there is so many SIM pick up island wide. Or get eSIM

SIM card might get lost in transit too.

The golden era of mobile phone. Nokia 8810, Ericsson T28, Motorola StarTac. Nowsaday, phone is just phone, not much different from each brand.
