Almost certainly not.. they are planning for themselves not thinking for consumers.

The 1 year plan is to lock up customers in case another price war comes along and customers zhao.

Eight also offers a passkey-based login option.

Generally yes.

Receiving a SMS text message is free of charge. Sending…doesn’t work while roaming internationally.

Blocking international calls and SMS only affects callers/senders from outside +65. Eight is sending their SMSes from +65.
Passkey is what? Can use with google / Microsoft authenticator app?

Last Sunday Eight's data was extremely slow in JB. Could not load restaurant's menu while another phone (using zero1) data had no such issue.
In the end found data speed had significant improvement after selecting Celcom from "Select carrier". The default carrier is Maxis.

Starhub just announced their 1H revenue report.

Profit falls 41.7%

Mobile subscribers fell -5.4%
Subscribers (incl eight) fell to 2.13m.

Even with eight price plans, and port in offers, they are still unable to give Simba a good fight. eight was launched to give simba a good fight.

How to fight when they want their customers to indirectly sign contract? Haha.

Prior to introduction of Eight, SH has been very laid back in the competition, even its 1.5 nos. of MVNOs (MR & RedOne) were so lack luster to price war. Guess it was too late when Eight came in to turn the tide, but Eight sure created a little Tsunami. 😀

Yeah, I think the damage was already done before eight telecom came into the picture.

SIMBA repeatedly matched whatever eight had to offer. Consumers had little to choose between them.

But currently, I'd choose eight over SIMBA all day. Just feel that Starhub's network is better.

It looked like little tsunami on edmw thread, people there thought it was game over for Simba and it seems majority of people moved to eight.

But hengfully it wasn't the real case, it's simba that exceled. I think edmwers were hallucinating of tsunami that eight is generating. In the end it's just a small splash of water from Mudskippers.

Looking back the events, SH may really in a serious take-over talk with M1, that was why it was not very aggressive in capturing the market. But guess eventually the bid is really not enticing enough for M1, so it came out with Plan B, Eight. That was also when M1 was no longer quite keen on number game, that was when CL and Maxx Basic Plan $0 plans were to be no longer available. Meantime, Simba came in for the bid, that was why Maxx Basic Plan $0 was indirectly reinstated but CL $0 plan was just irreversible. The rest is history.

But just a guess of the whole saga, whatever really happened is anyone's guess. 😀
