Presumably it’s just a question of competition and costs. With Eight, China and Hong Kong are “Group A” roaming countries, so there‘s an included allotment with every plan (including VoLTE support in mainland China). SIMBA includes more data in those places, but SIMBA also starts at $10 instead of $8 (except for age 60+) and has a generally weaker network in Singapore. (SIMBA pioneered generous included international roaming precisely because it started with a weaker local network. Their network has improved, and it’s quite decent now. But it’s still generally regarded as the weakest.) M1 Maxx treats China and Hong Kong similarly, but Maxx offers less international roaming overall (many fewer destinations) and doesn’t have a $5 senior plan.

Frequent travelers often prefer having a +852 or +86 number (a second SIM), and Eight can’t really help with that.

It’s much the same reason why the vast majority of credit and debit card issuers in Singapore charge ridiculously high foreign transaction fees: because they can get away with it, so far. Vote with your feet! Switch to a card (or mobile plan) that works better for you if you’re not happy. (Trust Bank’s debit and credit cards offer zero foreign transaction fees.)
I bought data eSIM for use in Korea from Klook.
The eSIM also comes with +852 no, why is it so?

and I need to turn on data roaming to use data in Korea,

seems like the provider in klook that provides the eSIM comes from HK?

There are sellers selling it on shopee.
Alternative is use shopee to top up main balance and recharge a senior plan, but that is probably not the intent.
But I not subscribed to senior plan on eight now. So I wonder if I buy senior plan on shopee like that can activate the senior plan bo

IIRC those qualified to use senior plan will have it appear in the app. Do you see it on yours? If so, I don't see why you can't also buy from Shopee, same like the regular plans.

I'm underage too, have only helped someone change to senior plan from his app after I saw it there.

I'm not sure 8 will let you activate the plan...

Who dares to try? :s13:

That boils down to how the enforcement is done.
I am doubtful that it will be as straight forward as that, but who knows.

Maybe try asking the Shopee seller you normally buy from? They could've come across such a case.

Just went to check Shopee. Taj Electronics has a note about senor plan. If not already a senior plan subscriber, the $5 will go into the main wallet.

Yes, that sort of arrangement is common. It’s analogous to buying an airport lounge membership from a company based in Country X that negotiates with airport lounges around the world to accept their members.

i got two sim. zym and eight.
i set mobile data to Zym.
then, i made a normal traditional call via phone app.
I called the bank, when i wanna update something in my bank, it sent me a push notification for the 2FA, i never receive coz zym signal suddenly gone, no internet.
den i tried setting mobile data to eight, called the bank again. zym no signal again, but this time, i can receive the 2FA push notification to log in coz i set data to Eight 4G.

why like that siol!
why when i make a call, i cannot use internet ah?
