So..... does the older 5G plans get upgraded to 5G+?
Annoyingly I just paid for 1 year plan at $108/year 2 days ago because the $96/year plan didn't have 5G.
Now they pull this **** off.

for my dad's senior plan, it continues to auto renew to 4G plan, no need to change to new 5G plan

My point is the first version of yearly plans were a cash grab for an inferior service (4G/5G).
Just 2-3 weeks after they introduced those first gen yearly plans, they now discontinue them completely, replaced with the new 5G+ plans which cost less for a better service (5G+ for $96/year, previously $96/year nets you 4G, not even 5G).

Their FAQ states existing plans remain unchanged and no upgrade, so now all the sad cases like me have another 11months + of inferior service to use

They rebranded their plan namings, no more "xxx Eight" plan names.

E.g. for those who are on the $10.80 Value Eight plan,
seems like we should all update our next cycle to $10.80 Power plan?

And those who are on the $11.80 Fortune Eight plan, perhaps can consider downgrading to the $10.80 Power plan too?

Haha, many users in this thread complain about slow eight 4G due to congestion (including me based on my testing). So they remove 4G for new users.

In reality this is the trend for StarHub, the CEO's priority is to raise the ARPU.

I mentioned the following earlier.

Starhub CEO's priority to raise the ARPU.

Mobile service side.
1) Removal of the eight S$8 and S$10.8 plan for the new users, replaced with S$8.8 plan and S$11.8 plan.

2) Removal of the legacy S$10 Starhub Prepaid S 5G plan and replaced it with S$12 4G plan

3) Increasing the price of the Starhub 5G Lite plan from S$22 to S$25 and now S$28 per month. Moreover this 5G Lite plan can no longer enjoy 20% OFF Passion Card offer.

Fibre Broadband side
1) Recent increase of the price of digital voice from S$2.14 to S$5 per month

2) They have downgraded the free bundled router for Starhub 5Gbps plan from HB710 to HB615.

3) Moreover, they have raised the Starhub Shop cash and carry price of HB710 from S$192 to S$240.

Yes, I have set auto renewal to 5G+ Power Plan for next month onwards, from current 5G Value Eight. The roaming benefits is better now, from 12GB APAC to 18GB APAC and 3GB International to 6GB International.

I guess Eight stun is due to the fact that consolidation matter is on a high chance of success that is why the increase in price plans now paving way for new era. The only threat left now is Simba but given the over capacity of Simba existing 1.5 million subscribers I guess it no longer has the stomach to absorb more users with aggressive promo liao.
Nevertheless, an interesting phase to see what Singtel and Simba will do next, after all, users are still free to port with better deals elsewhere.

And APAC is now standardized to 20 countries, recall Value Eight APAC didn't include China, Japan, etc.

lucky for existing 4G users, we get to keep the lowest price 4G plan.

and since all the new users are not going to be able to share the 'cake' of 4G anymore. We get to enjoy the cake on our own.

Even if ABC says it's working now, things could change if there are backend changes later on.
Since it's still a new addition, give it another 1 to 2 months to observe feedback, but nothing is assured.
