Sharing my timeline porting in from ZYM sim card to Eight esim, all done online

19 Aug 4pm - signed up and activated line, request to port in
20 Aug 11pm - ZYM line no more signal, but number not yet ported
21 Aug 12am+ - porting still not done
21 Aug 9am+ - number ported in successfully

might have been ported in earlier in the midnight or early morning but i only checked and confirmed at 9am+.

i also dropped them an email on 20 Aug noon to get them to expedite the port in, but not sure if it helps cos no acknowledgement and no response. but glad all done and signal is okay so far.

I think retailers and roadshows can pass u SIM card if u signed up at the location.

If u signup online, u cannot collect the SIM card at retailers and roadshows. Only can collect at service Center or SIM card collection Center.

Can i say if port in with esim,no need to go to ubi and the process will also be fast?
What is the con of esim,eg. if phone spoilt and need to use spare phone which doesn't support esim?

If change phone, need to go down to service Center to get a new QR code to scan and add to new phone. For eight, it is currently free. In future not sure.

If you frequently change phone, not advisable to take eSIM. Unless we can easily transfer eSIM to new phone anytime we want.

depends on your need.

My main line is on e-SIM, so when i go overseas, i still can buy a physical sim card. that way, i can receive sms alerts from govt institutions or receive OTP from banks from my sg number/main line. Also, the fear of losing ur sim card in the gaps of airplane seats is as real as it gets :s13:

if you frequently change your phone, or do not travel often, or/and roaming data allowance covers the destinations you are visiting and your data needs, go for physical.

if you frequently lose/t ur phone, then does not matter e-sim or physical sim.

I oso confused abt this part. It was stated in their faq:

Our plans do include 288mins roaming calls back to Singapore and at the destination you roam at! For SMS, there will be no issues to receive OTP but our plans do not include outgoing SMS at the moment.

The 288mins is deducted from the local talk time or IDD 288 mins?

Regardless of telco, if you receive an incoming while you are roaming, IDD charge will be slapped, plus other ancillary charges (again, depending on telco).

I went to indo lately, and I received an incoming call. The incoming call that I answered was deducted from IDD allowance.

Great, thanks for the info. Doesn't feel right if it's deducted from the local 288 mins
