they are the same

top up $8. eight will credit $8
the promo is from eight. not from retailers

you only using them to top up. that's all

cannot stack. each account one promo
just checking, I top up Main Balance of $8 using HockMobile (shopee) around 10 plus just now.

When will eight credit the $8 to the Main Balance?

I kanchiong because I scared my number issue carried forward from singtel. Then will have to go down Samsung to check phone hardware and if phone no issue then worst case scenario is new number, which I damn reluctant to follow through because alot of parties need to configure on phone number change. Luckily problem solved, I can receive calls and sms now. Can get 4g+ with speeds from about 110mbps to 240+ mbps from home with windows and doors all closed. Quite good for 4g?

From what I see here, I feel like their customer service quite hit or miss. Mine I email them at midnight then they reply in the morning. I just hang on to that email thread and they do reply within a few hours and sometimes within 15 mins. But no online chat service really quite hard to reach if really got immediate technical issue. Their service center at ubi also a bit unfriendly for people from far west.

Update: activated on 29 Aug 830am. Got ported overnight by 30 Aug morning. Confirmed data can use in Msia and eight otp can be received.
Thanks for sharing. Means can collect and wait till near current billing cycle ends. I'm planning to do that as well. Good to know it's possible! :)

good to hear that it went well for you.
i think for now eight is overwhelming, with so many new sign up and not sure if they have enough time or manpower to clear the backlog issues

ubi service centre is also unfriendly to north ;)

so those who plans to go with eight, need to accept all the teething issues, else can consider m1 maxx first, almost same price plan but just that no IDD calls only

can get very anxious if line didnt go well especially it is mainline and we need to use it for other purpose. i wouldn't suggest to do online porting with eight if it is mainline. best is to visit service centre just for nice to get it processed

where did you go for the customer support?

ubi server centre?

you mean you cannot receive bank otp? give yourself till afternoon. understand your anxiety. in the first place if Line is important you should visit their ubi service centre to sign up and port
I went to both. The first two visits to the one at Lucky Plaza and the third one to Ubi.

The guy at Lucky Plaza literally told me that unless I sign up for a paid plan, $8 or $18, he wasn't going to help me. His reason was that he has to pay rent. Told me if I wanted the NDP promo go online to sign up and ask questions. He then brushed me away by ignoring my further questions.

I tried to sign up for the NDP Promo online myself and even posted here for assistance but no one responded (Post #: 4,126). Unaware of the need to enter promo code, I failed to do so and only got 30 days free.

By the time I realised the consequence of my carelessness, I had already picked up the SIM a few hours ago. Nevertheless, it was unlikely porting process had begun (pick up at 11:03 am, realised at 4:30 pm). So, I contacted customer service to cancel the SIM or at least stop the porting in. They told me to provide my details to cancel my SIM, although the port in had not taken placed. The next day, they emailed that the porting is already in progress and it is too late to cancel. Pretty obvious, they waited long enough to tell me that!

Still thinking I could stop the port in, I decided to go to the Ubi service centre hoping for better service. Although the guy explained that if I cancelled my SIM, I will likely lose my number, I told him to feedback that Eight should refrain from running promos like this because it doesn’t appear sincere as there is an underlying desire to trick those who do not enter promo codes. He insisted it was my own fault for not seeing there was a promo code for the Super Eight plan and no promo codes for the other plans and for not knowing that this means I have to enter a promo code. He insisted all information was provided clearly. He said all Singaporeans are kiasu and will know to enter promo code. I guess I am the odd one and different from others.

I believe Eight could have stopped the porting process if they wanted to when I contacted them barely a few hours after picking up the SIM. I surmise since their intention is to trick those who are less familiar, they never had any intention to help the victims and therefore chose to delay responding, if at all.

Overall, a very unpleasant experience and now still unable to receive OTP SMS.

Can anyone let me know if there are issues porting out of Eight? Many thanks.

Really? For port in numbers or eight issued numbers? Then it'll be hard to port out in the future to other telcos because some are postpaid port in only. Postpaid port in to eight become prepaid 🤣

sorry to hear that..
yes, here many reviews shared that lucky plaza service is very bad. hope eight has taken note on this
so therefore many headed to ubi service centre for port in

i was like you, port in online but forget the ndp code and just only 30days free, no way to reverse unless you terminate the card. but since the port in process in the progress, just go with it first, use it first and port out later before next cycle. since you are on eight now, you may want to port out to another mvno? m1 maxx?

eight indeed has many teething issues as they are new and they keep taking many new sign up

Actually I read your post yesterday about forgetting to enter NDP promo code and so when I signed up online yesterday evening I specifically remembered to enter the NDP promo code but at the summary it shows 30 days free but also shows the promo code being captured so to test I clicked the (x) beside the captured promo code to release it then I backed out of the application process then I started a fresh application and entered the promo code and the summary still shows 30 days free and the promo code being captured so I just submitted and hope for the best.

What's the population here again? Not 6.9M yet, right? Not counting our FW and FT... 🤷‍♂️

Eight seems to have bitten more than they could chew, on top of many people waiting to be spoon-fed.

Once again, their website has tons of info, including their FAQ. That's under HELP, for those who can't find where's FAQ.

With everything else, if we don't read in detail but choose to read selectively, there could be information missed out and who else but ourselves to blame.

Hereon, I'd like to advise anyone who's seeking help through email, do furnish them with as much info as you can, instead of waiting for them to ask in order to give you more accurate information, then expect them to sit and wait for your reply, then attend to your case promptly.

They've so many emails daily, on top of those 🕷️🕷️🕷️who shoot them multiple emails DAILY.

And, for their service centers and retailers... can you imagine how many people (ya, those wanting them to spoon-feed as well) visit them daily? These people aren't doing Eight alone, they've to earn $ in order to sit there to wait to spoon-feed as well. Ubi boss is considered very patient already, so let's not kill our one and only reliable physical source of help.

And to Eight, please stop giving free lines already. You can definitely breathe better and have some space to settle your outstanding issues first. Not worth your reputation trying to provide free service and end up with criticisms day in and day out.

..., you may want to port out to another mvno? m1 maxx?
I was drawing up a spreadsheet for myself to show the differences between eight maxx simba...

Maxx really made it so obvious with 10c cheaper for successful port-in promo, 11GB more for local data, 1GB more for APAC data...
