i was once in JB, i turned off the data roaming and plane mode but i can still received phone calls from sg as my wif-calling is "turned on"

i did check with starhub before, even incoming wifi calls will considered as IDD calls

for now we need not to turn off the data roaming liao.. use till song song gao zoolong

Let me research on this.
I remember I turned on wifi calling, den it was not connected to the cellular network.
maybe eight in my house area got habitual drop in signal.

It's nice of Eight to increase the entitlements. But realistically speaking, only the extra 2GB of APAC roaming matters and potentially eat into their revenues. I would think 99% of us can't even finish 50GB, let alone 188GB. The increase in talk time is a nice surprise. Then again, most people use WhatsApp call (I'm probably the very odd one out).

Are we getting more members to join the 2025 Xmas party?

Before you commit, you can trial first connecting to your office VPN.

You can try so by using a spare android (non-iPhone pls, as iPhone will turn off its hotspot after no activity.) and turn on its hotspot.

and write a field report.

288GB should be okay for daily usage.

I think my father pays about $40. Singtel. No problems. Just that when eventually I move out I need broadband mah, then these days a lot of horror stories

my father did ask about using data plan for WiFi but I said no coz they mainly use it to stream video every day throughout the day so I don’t know data will be enough or not

Did you buy and set up your own wireless router for your Whizcomm?

Realistically, you should buy a proper home FBB service lah. The ISP doesn't really matter, it depends on luck. Sometimes it's ST, sometimes SH or M1. They take turn to have trouble. Most of the time, the culprit is not even them. Just pay the cheapest rate is good enough. I've not come across any use cases where you need the bandwidth of 1Gbps. Same with mobile service. It's so cheap these days I have services for 2 tablets. Last time have to tether because the cheapest plan is probably $20+.

Somebody asked about VoWiFi. It's good to have especially if your coverage is spotty. The cellular network can hand your connections over the local WiFi. But if you don't have issues with cellular coverage, then I personally feel this is not needed. If you use VoWiFi, it doesn't mean they don't deduct your minutes ah.

I remembered there was one incident where I was expecting an SMS OTP while on the line.
But eight signal dropped once the call started.
the SMS did not come, it expired instead. sms came after signal restored, but by then, I hung up the call.

Not sure if it is VoWIFI that caused the eight signal to drop.

After that, I disabled VoWIFI.

I called the hotline again, the eight signal never drop since then.

but then i noticed my home, eight signal will drop on and off.

When was the incident? In the past, some phones can't support simultaneous data and voice because they can't do VoLTE. The phone then drops to 3G and uses GSM to complete the call setup. You will experience some handover latency but usually should be minimal and transparent.

SMS delivery can be late for many reasons that are not network related. This is why you should never depend on SMS for time sensitive applications. For some reasons, our banks love that in the past.
