I was looking at the eight website. Was planning to port out of simba to eight telecom for free months. I saw these eight yearly plans. But I don't get how they calculate the free months? Are these supposed to be rollover credits?

The math doesn't add up. How am I getting up to five months when the savings tell me I'm saving atleast ~3 months worth of credits 😂 Might as well say up to 1 year

This is a case of marketing fluff.
But here is my understanding.

If you refer that this poster for COMEX promotion then it will likely make more sense

Using fortune eight as example, the "original" price is 128, and is being discounted to 108
108 / 11.80 = ~9 Months.
For the price of 108 for the one year plan, you only have "pay for 9 months worth", meaning that you get 3 "free" months.

Then add on to that, if you port in, 2 months more... so 5 months !

Just to check, this is to top up the main balance and not renewal of the plan right? Is it instant as well?
There are two options, data top up for plan recharge stacking and mobile top up for wallet balance.
Processing is instant.
Note that they are blocking “free” checkout now, so the above example in screeenshots no longer work, unless u have less than 760 coins I guess.

So weird, my $18 plan eight sim when roaming in japan cannot make calls to sg local mobile numbers (eight, m1, sh, st) but call sg fixed line and call japanese numbers all ok.
Data and sms receive is ok.
How ar, they dun have live chat one lol

Switched from docomo to AU kddi and calls work, but not all calls.
Calls can now call between:
8 to 8 mobile
8 to Singapore fixed line (not vice versa)
8 to roaming country fixed line and mobile some hit and miss.

But 8 to m1 number fail, m1 also cannot call the 8...

if it is normal MVNO better don't try multi year credit

if the mvno is belong to MNO like Eight is starhub than can.

yes, this is the reason why i dare to do so. and not to mention, the risk is only at later years.

6.75 years - meaning 3.375 years is on my $$, remaining 3.375 years is on free $$, if it go bankrupt at later years, technically no lugi, only no free $$...

i should have whacked while i could
Btw do you all perceive that Eight will have another 1 for 1 top-up promotion soon / in time to come / during one of the IT shows ? Is it a good idea to wait till then before we whacked / topped up with our Shopee points via digital purchase (ie 50% + 5% off) ?

How's using Eight data roaming in Malaysia (JB)? So far, mine has been pretty inconsistent and mostly quite slow and unusable compared to my Gomo and Maxx.

Unlikely to have one for one top up offer any more as Starhub's main priority is to increase ARPU.
