How's using Eight data roaming in Malaysia (JB)? So far, mine has been pretty inconsistent and mostly quite slow and unusable compared to my Gomo and Maxx.

I have local malaysia umobile plan, when I do speed comparison at my house area with eight dat roaming set to umobile too, speed is higher lol. So I would say it's okay.

i think the rest of MVNOs there is chance for extra charge depending on what extra thing u use.

eight NO matter what u do, also will not incur a single cent more than what ur plan subscription fee is.

Btw do you all perceive that Eight will have another 1 for 1 top-up promotion soon / in time to come / during one of the IT shows ? Is it a good idea to wait till then before we whacked / topped up with our Shopee points via digital purchase (ie 50% + 5% off) ?

You should ask if Simba is offering 1 for 1 topup promotion.
usually if Simba has, eight will follow.

That time i top up 1 for 1 for eight still have not break even. Need to 衡量其中的利弊, its not for everyone, i prefer to be porter.

yup, no extra charge is a super super super good bonus especially for iphone users.

every time turning on and off facetime and iMessage will trigger international SMS and incur extra charge.
now on eight it is totally zero charge, no matter how many times i did it...

Saw the promo, switch to annual plan is cheaper. Currently on value 8 5G, switch to Fortune 8 5G annual get more data yet cheaper

For users who did not have the one for one top-up offer then yes, as long as you are okay to stick with eight for one year.

For those with the one for one top-up offer, no point to go with annual plan as you can not use the existing wallet balance to pay for the annual plan.

So should we whack NOW using Shopee digital purchase (before more restrictions are imposed by Shopee regarding purchase payment via Shopee coins - will they restrict further so soon ??? ) or can we afford to wait for the next IT show / 1 for 1 top up promotion offered by Eight to enjoy 50% + 5% = 55% discount then ? Based on all your past experience / foresight / pattern with both Shopee & Eight ?

Hi xiaofan. Why do you say SIMBA MNO has high excess roaming data charges? Their rate is $4/GB for most countries, charged in 10MB blocks, which seem reasonable?

1. That is on top of the monthly changes and can cause bill shocks for users not well informed.

Tough answer, Eight Mobile is known for tagging along Simba promo. So we can only hope Simba comes out with 1-for-1 again. Other factors including if SH buying over M1 then may be its strategies will alter, being the biggest local telco.

I still feel Android is still a better phone option, IMHO.
