I noticed that there’s a ‘Postpaid’ tag under my number at the account management website, wonder if it means Prepaid service is coming soon for eight?

Indeed I see this as well.

StarHub's own StarHub Prepaid plans belong to "Postpaid" as per IMDA classifications (up to 10 lines from all providers )

Only StarHub Tourist SIMs belong to true Prepaid as per IMDA classification (up to 3 lines only from all providers).

Singtel Prepaid, M1 Prepaid, SIMBA Prepaid and CUniq Prepaid belong to the true prepaid as per IMDA classification. But I believe only Singtel has a sizable use bases for the prepaid market (not counting tourist SIMs).

It would be interesting to see if eight goes to the prepaid market. If true, I think it will be similar to SIMBA prepaid with short validity, unlike Singtel and M1 prepaid SIM which can have up to 180 days SIM Validity.

Example use case: buy and throw short term SIM for traveling for local residents, tourist SIM for visitors, etc.

It could be similar to CUniq Prepaid which offers a way for long term pass holders to come in first and then convert to PostPaid plan within one month.

and the amount of data 3GB. :s22:
Back then some red telco say you only need 3 to 5GB on average
Yes, not to mention that mine is under corporate discount (CIS promo), meaning if no discount, it is probably around $60 per month.

And if u noticed, they even treat the 4G service last time as VAS, and initially they charge $10 extra when switch to 4G but after some complaint and IMDA involved, they give it free.

No need that long ago, my Dec 2021 Singtel bill: S$50.33 x 1.07 = S$53.85 for Singtel Combo 2 with Data X3 add-on, just 6GB data in total. Soon after that I changed this line to SingTel SIM Only. The other Combo 2 line was changed to Singtel SIM Only plan back in Dec 2019.

******
Combo 2 Plan Includes Free Local Incoming Calls, 200 mins Local Outgoing Calls, 1000 Local SMS, 2GB Local Data Bundle, 4G Data VAS

Subscription Charge S$50.33
(17 Dec to 16 Jan 2022)
G Combo 2 Plan (10% Discount (Bundle)) S$36.08
G Caller-ID S$5.00
G DATA X 3 S$9.25
******

Total bill is at S$125.76 for all the Singtel services (Singtel 1Gbps Fibre, Singtel TV Family Favourite Starter Pack, Singtel Mobile Combo 2, Singtel Mobile SIM Only). I was a Singtel Circle member from Sept 2013 to Jan 2022.

Now in Nov 2026, I am only paying Singtel S$30.56 per month for two SingTel S$15.28 lines. I cancelled Singtel TV in Oct 2024. Then I quit Singtel Fibre in Aug 2026.

Now I pay StarHub (Fibre Internet, eight, three StarHub Prepaid lines) higher than Singtel (two SIM Only lines) and M1 (Fibre Internet).

Yup, M1 was the first to "spoil the market". They started with a 10GB offering, then increased to 12GB. And all 3 colours offered 12GB, but their network infrastructure couldn't handle the traffic. To utilise even 2GB was difficult back then

I had to ask my M1 friend to open hot-spot in Changi Airport, because Singtel cannot even load any sai.

In a world where inflation is causing chaos, i guess mobile plans are deflation? something to be happy about at least. :ROFLMAO:
