What kinds of ekiben do u like to get on the trains?
Ekiben are like bento boxes for eating on the shinkansen trains

Havent had a lot but my fav is the beef with rice type.

I always try to buy the "local food" bento so depends on the location :)
if not i will choose the one that have a lot of different things in small portion. (usually like 6-9 boxes of different thing)
I also quite like those that have auto-heating box (pull string then it will heat the food) but usually more expensive.

Got these 3 today at tokyo station from gran something.

Seems like there are several companies that operate these ekiben shops.
They all have different offerings.

The center one is beef with rice.
Quite good.

The bottom box is autumn seasonal matsutake mushroom rice.
They also had an autumn chestnut version.

+1 for the many different things in 1 box type.

Tried the self heating types, imo not worth the extra $. Which can be spent on better food.

I usually go for those that I can see what's in it from outside. Don't like too nicely packaged boxes.
