Electric current from extension cord

Hi guys. I have a problem which needs some clarification and assistance.

I have a normal extension cord with multiple sockets to plug multiple electronic devices (PC, monitor, speakers etc...).

When I plug my laptop alone into the extension cord, there are no issues. However, whenever I have more than one device powered on from the extension, say, monitor and laptop, I can feel electric current from the metal parts of my laptop. The current will always be present until I switch off the power on the extension cord. Even if I off my laptop but leave the extension switch on, I can still feel the current.

Is this suppose to be normal, or do I need some sort of surge protector?

Check proper grounding for desktop, laptop and power mains. It looks like a case of "leaking" which might potentially fry your stuffs. Anyway try not to overload with multi sockets. My first PC was fried like that. Might be a failing laptop PSU.

My desktop is grounded through my Power Supply. It happens to any metal parts of my device, even the USB connector (the metal part where you plug in to your smartphone for charging). I don't think it's laptop issue since there isn't any problem if it is the only thing powered on. Even using it alone on the main wall socket is fine.

What does this "leaking" mean? Is it an indicator that the extension cord is failing?

If properly grounded you won't be able feel the current. Try to replace the extension cord first - anyway since it is the cheapest part to troubleshoot.

Don't do anything. That is the safest.
