Hi JMatthew1108,

Thanks for all the useful advice about fan selection! I went through the previous posts and have shortlisted both the Panasonic F407YS and the MItsubishi LV16SRT. I'm aware of your warning about remote controls but I can't pick the LV16GU due to the castor wheels (have young kids at home).

Between the F407 and LV16SRT, is there much difference between fan build quality and wind strength? Putting aside potential remote control issues, which would you say is a better choice? Thanks!

Haiz the fan installer is an electrician and for some reasons I'm not going to ask for him to settle this. Do you have any contacts or reliable person to help balance and ensures that it doesnt shakes at all?

Sure, check your inbox.

Hi, please Pm me his contact as I am also looking for someone to install balance the ceiling fan. Just wonder how much normally will they charge per installation?

Hey in regards to this, I actually contacted KDK direct. They are arranging to send someone down to rectify the wobbling issue for free but if they need to reinstall it, they have to charge me $50. You might want to engage them. Definitely more reliable then any third party or maybe they have their own third party guys to come down but still its guranteed by KDK themselves.

F407YS, more value overall

Was quoted $170 for balancing, instalation and wall regulator install for ceiling fan. My ceiling is low

Is this the usual price? If no, can pm me contacts? Thank you.

Any feedback?

Hi, I'm considering ceiling fans for my new home & would like to ask:
For usual HDB bedrooms, is the 56" too big?
Anyone know where in Singapore can buy Panasonic ceiling fans? Seems like I can only find it on Carousell or Lazada...

Ideally, I'm only looking at Panasonic or KDK...

For the bedrooms, if I want a ceiling fan with light with only 3 blades - looks like only U48FP from KDK? Any other recommendations?

For living room + dining, if I want a 56" one, is W56WV or R56SV a better choice?

Also, do ceiling fans nowadays all run on DC?
Also, all are ABS type of blades nowadays too?

Thanks very much in advance!

Am also planning to buy a ceiling fan with light each for my HDB living room and bedroom. Would like to know the following:

1. Is the KDK 48" Remote Ceiling Fan (U48FP) good?

2. Can I change the light to a higher wattage as 18W might not be bright enough for the living room?

3. If I want to change the light (eg not working), is it easy to DIY (like flourescent lights)?

For your advise, please.

Thank you.

1. Not bad.

2. Not possible, but its sufficiently bright for bedroom. But be warned the light is rather glaring, not easy on the eyes

3. Can't simply change, have to buy a replacement LED panel from manufactuer and swap out.

If you're buying multiple pieces maybe go JB and buy K12UX instead, its only 200 plus over there. It's not really worth the 400 plus they charge here.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

Just 1 more question: Is it easy to remove the faulty LED panel from the fan (KDK and other brands) and then replace it with a new one?

Once again, thank you.

Think it depend on what type of LED used. You have a picture?

I spoke to a salesguy abt this ceiling fan ytd.
Led seldom spoilt but e led driver is another issue.
So i asked him abt led driver but he said hav to check w kdk

Many thanks.
So LED technology is lasting unlike florescent lights which I have to replace every year.
I just did a google search and found out that LED lights generally have a lifespan of about 50K hours.

LED lasts very long but the driver normally fails first. When the LED light on my ceiling fan started flickering, the manufacturer quoted $150+GST for service and replacement of the LED light.:eek::eek:

Tiagong DC fans servicing is even more expensive, and can cost $200 depending on the parts that need to be replaced.

In the end, I chose to replace the ceiling fan with one that has modular LED light and remote control, where I can replace the LED light and remote control myself. The driver for the LED light costs $15 and the whole LED light with driver only costs $45. Remote control only costs $40. Total damage for the new ceiling fan was $270 ($220 for the fan with LED light and $50 for installation).

Thank you for the info.

May I know what good brand of ceiling fans come with modular LED lighting. For your recommendation, please.

I don’t remember the brand. I only see the safety mark label on the fan but can’t find the brand. I bought my fan from a shop called Yafen if that helps. I think most shops should also carry such products. I also considered JB and Taobao but the key problem is the lack of local support, which means that I would have to either live with the problem or discard the fan should there be any problems. Fans in JB with light and remote are also not cheap and most cost upwards of $200 :s22:.

no worries, I will ask the shop when I buy
