Dear WussRedXLi,

If getting the Panasonic EW-DJ10-A via your amazon link, if no free shipping no point right? Then just get from Qoo10 with coupons?

Also, for the replacement heads, cos I don't Taobao, any other alternative other than Amazon or Qoo10(2x for $20 :s22:)?

You are correct, if no free shipping usd 125 on Amazon USA, no real incentive to get from there. Approx S$56.5 shipped to here with 3% cc.

But then it depends also, getting from Taobao @ S$42.6 (RMB 195) means it's about S$45 shipped to Singapore if you are tagging to an existing shipment or S$48 if it's a new shipment via Simplypost. And it's inherently more "dangerous" than getting from Amazon.

The Waterpik WF-03 from Amazon UK with current coupon looks like a good alternative, the 3AA requirement vs 2AA for the PAnasonic might give it slightly more flexibility in terms of battery options as the drain per cell is less.
Also you can add the periodontal tips.

It's probably a workhorse as well, no real issues on Amazon reviews.

The other issues like small 150ml reservoirs (affects all portable cordless ver) is like that, pretty ok....just have to refill once. In fact for me i usually don't do that coz my regimen is 3-4 times daily. Sometimes if i want a deeper floss, i'd refill once.

BTW, with Singapore water, the tip nozzle doesn't really clog. So no worries. Can just poke a small fine pin into the hole to clean it ba...more than enough. No need to buy extra replacements, my 2 extra nozzles still keep in cupboard unused for so many years.

Also, the plastics used for the Panasonic is prob ABS or something, drop onto floor also no issue. Flexi. But the Waterpik would break, from what i read on the review.

I have dropped the Oral B DB4010 onto the floor before, end up inside got one rotating weight or something out of balance....the speed of the oscilliations dropped dramatically. I think this affects the rechargeable models as well......so do take care and take note.

Good find! Notch bad......i have seen the h2ofloss before on TB (in addition to Prooral, and a myraid of other lesser brands). But never knew that they have a ver that has built-in NiMH so basically it's a mini countertop, coz it comes with a 300ml reservoir "only" vs 500-1000ml of the big ones, still much better than the 150-160ml of the cordless ones and seriously 300ml is more or less there for daily use.

On TB it's RMB 188 or SGD 41. Maybe around $45 with shipping.

USD 25.5 is a good price! (SGD 35.7) This is one of those very rare instances in which aliexpress is cheaper than Taobao or even domestic China price without factoring in fowarding shipping cost.

All the review details in there, thousands of them

What's make this attractive is for USD25.55, it comes with all the specialise nozzles in where you have to but separately for waterpik. Even the Periodontal ones. that you are looking for.

Last time a bit stupid in getting Oral B replacement brush heads from Amazon US, even with free ship. I think the FSSG clouded judgement and so didn't shop around. It was still a wee bit cheaper than local retail though. Forex then was in the 1.26-1.30 range also, a few years ago.

Prices in USD (just checked the order invoice details, i believe also got some usd 2 or usd 4 coupon)

Now is like this from Amazon UK. And there is a 3 pound coupon so it's 16.99 or SGD 30.25.
Shipping added nothing additional as it's so light and i tagged it to an existing Amazon UK order. But of course if it's shipped by itself, it's 11.19 pounds. So really need to add to cart and consolidate and plan well ahead. Not very different from Amazon US free ship eligibility

Still more ex than the Taobao ones of coz (about $10 for 9pcs) or the lazada ones that someone else mentioned, but these are originals and seriously the recurring price is pretty acceptable at sgd 3.3 per pc for 3-6 months depending on how often you replace.

Amazon JP nothing much to buy. I only got some special Tomica Plarail and Plarail Advanced stuff that Taobao does not have. The Panasonic oral irrigator quite ex, i think around S$60+ and that's before shipping cost. Taobao same JDM version S$42 nia.

this h2ofloss got good reviews. can consider leh.

Best part is that it's cheap, and performance seems ok. I mean, you can turn down the pressure if you want to , 6 power settings ensures all the fun that you want. 110 PSI as per spec is a bit high and 90 PSI is optimal from the medical research that i have posted, along with 1200-1400 cycles for the pulsations. But if you are using the special periodontal tip which cuts the pressure by design, this extra headroom could actually be welcomed in some instances, though those suffering from advanced periodontitis (not gingivitis) probably cannot stand the high pressure in the first place.

Many people don't want to buy electric toothbrushes and oral irrigators due to the high cost of ownership, esp with recurring replaceables. And i don't blame them esp with local retail. Dental visits with a good one are not cheap also (always hear complaints here and there, a bit of the same story with GPs actually, in theory it sounds good but in reality it doesn't mean that you visit doctor/dentist = 100% problem solved...eg read my lady colleague's example just 1 page earlier ), esp a problem if you don't have dental coverage, so some people delay until it "explodes".

I am a firm believer that a lot depends on yourself, the home care. And if your diet sucks, eg carbs esp with sugars and the number of exposures per day, this aspect's importance increases very significantly.

Hope this thread changes all that esp with the current economic climate....be it that one visits the dentist regularly or not for whatever personal reasons or relies solely on home care.

I don't know what does it use, but probably it's a 4 pack AA. 1800mAh, or i read it uses 2000mAh. So it's 4pcs of tiong-quality NiMH 1800 mAh or 2000.
Shd be decent.

One big issue is not sure if the pack easy to replace or not after time. Get some Enelong AA from TB, RMB 5 each AA, will do. That's like 5 bucks max. If it's in a pack, then can get those 4 x AA battery holders. Or just source for NiMH packs.
There is a chance of the original battery pack going bad just after 6-12 months. Depends on your luck.

It's probably rough in some areas, like being noisy and the quality of the motor/pump noise suck, but that's probably about it. Maybe got small chance that you'd need to beef up the charging jack a bit to prevent water seepage and corroding the jacks over time. That's also why the latest Waterpik Advanced Water Flosser uses inductive charging instead of a jack, when electric toothbrushes have long gone that route, iirc since 20+ years ago even. But at 4.8V ie 4 x AA, charging won't be very often. (actually similar issues affect the Waterpik cordless precedessors as well).

Nothing is perfect, moss build up at the battery compartment gasket and rubber parts affects the Oral B AA toothbrushes as well.

Did a little more digging on H2ofloss. They are also sold on Lazada, but more expensive than aliexpress, but you get 1 year local warranty.

What was interesting is they sell replacements parts there too,
http://www.lazada.sg/h2ofloss/?searchredirect=h2ofloss

And I took a look at their replacement handle and tips, and it is compatible with Waterpik's WP60, W70.

H2Ofloss did their homework, with regards to the diabetes and periodontitis link.....

Safe and effective on patients with diabetes, orthodontic appliances;

Waterpik model nos: WP-60; WP-65 & WP-70.

That means the h2ofloss is a direct copy of the PP-70E tips.

Not compatible with the WF-03 Freedom water flosser and a lot of other flossers, which uses PP-100E tips. The PP-100E and similar 100 model number tips have a longer base. I was also wondering if these shorter based ones are compatible with the Panasonic, but i don't wanna spend $12-18 to find out and ordering from TB. :s13:

Now have to find replacement.

You wanna get one single replacement tip from me?

Replacement from ebay is S$12 shipped for 2pcs.
$6. Postage will be 90c, coz it'd be non-standard mail as i will really be puffing up the envelope with cardboard/newspapers to ensure it does not break. :s13:
So $6.90....

I don't think it'll be > 100g, so won't be $1.15 post. I take pic and video of letter pkg dropping into mailbox, just in case for posting evidence ba. Will send ya the vid on youtube.

Yours is the AA battery ver right?

I hope i got the correct sized envelope. I have lots of PE mailers, but a bit wierd sending those out. :s13:

Waterpik WF-03 shipped out liao. Bought 2 pieces of Oral B 600 (8800 oscillations, 20k pulsations) and 9pcs of cross action as well. Oral B 500 is the 7.6k osc, 20k pul one.

Really cheap, 12.5 pounds for the oral b 600 (it's listed as 15 pounds but checkout that time a certain % is deducted, i think minus some tax or something) and 1.5 pounds additional for shipping as tag on. So that's SGD25 all in. Going to give to parents and in laws so that the DB4010 don't have to share (I think my father also doesn't use also).

edit - yep, that deduction is VAT, 17.5%...for overseas orders. The listed prices on Amazon UK got VAT included, and they deduct for overseas orders. Same as Amazon JP when i bought Tomy Plarail from them.

I bought the h2ofloss. Can be used to clean many things. Quite useful. Can let you all play with it if you want.

Do rem to give FR later.

I mean, you could even try to clean out your aircon FCU \. Only thing is that maybe you'd need to put this on a high stool or ladder or something as the hose is not that long. 300ml is cool, with the cordless AA irrigators, i need to adapt the intake to a mug.

Clean both the fins and blowers, don't have to dismantle anything...motor won't spoil but of coz don't intentionally aim at the electronics cover area which is crazy and just looking for trouble coz it's so far away at the sides anyway. Use 2 basins below the FCU to catch the dirty water....actually when cleaning the fins the dirty water would drain via the AC drainage pipe.

I can guarantee you that you can blast out much black flakes of mold/fungi/dirt and whatnots with the oral irrigator.
