Hey guys, I was clearing my room and I found this brand new high speed micro usb cable, however the sides are exposed... maybe because I kept it for too long tied up...

Anyways do you know if I just tape up the exposed parts with electrical tape, will it be fine? Like I won’t get electrocuted and/or cause a fire? Thanks!

I won't even care. What you're seeing is just the outer shield.

If u are really worried, then just buy a cheap heatshrink tube to wrap the cable.

Hmm.... should be ok but not recommended. This is because condition of the 4 wires inside is unknown. Given the low cost of USB cables, not worth taking the risk.
