Elevator accident common or uncommon?

Just a normal day activity of entering elevator. Then a boomer W rushed to catch the elevator. Then a boomer M was pressing close door. Maybe did not see someone is coming. The door closed on poor boomer W. I was too far in the elevator corner and blocked by people, cannot do anything. Just another day.

rarely ppl would get seriously hurt by a closing lift doors
or one could use that hand to push back that 'retractor' & the door will open

& what's the diff between a lift & an elevator
both w/ the same functions but former more commonly used in ard here

Lift has many safety provisions and redundant switches.. likelihood of malfunction is less if maintained properly.. Also we need to use it carefully

Elevator is the same as lift.. but American call elevator..and British call them lift
