Is an Elgato Stream Deck considered a necessity or a luxury item in your daily computing life?

If you already own one, what is its main purpose for you on a daily basis?

If im currently not in the Elgato ecosystem, is it worthwhile to get one or there are other more viable substitutes out there in terms of price vs functionalities?

The only thing useful about the stream deck is the keys have a display. If you need a key to do something there is already power automate.

Luxury, eye-candy and cool factor.

It's of course convenient, but it's not like there aren't other ways to accomplish the same task.

Shortcut for all often use apps

It is very convenient tool. I tested the phone app version before purchasing.

Using it for
1. Shortcut to launch apps/calculator/Windows settings
2. Shorcut to desktop/Closing windows/Screen snippets
3. Pre-arrange usual apps in certain windows location. Have multiple setups depends on apps that is opened.
4. Changing audio outputs
5. Text shortcuts. ie predefined text ( similar to text expander apps)
6. Zoom and MS Teams controls
7. ZoomIT controls (during screen share in conference calls)
8. US Stock tickers updates , probably the most used function. The Stream Deck display is most useful here.

It has other plug-in for Audio, Business Tool, Developer tools, Finance, Music, Productivity, Smart home, Utilities and a whole lot more. Translate to layman term, can control/automate Discord, Spotify, FooBar2000, OBS, Phillips Hue, IFTTT, HWinfo. Visual Studio, Github, Azure

1) XENCELABS Quick Keys, has a dial. May be useful for certain creative apps users.
