Guys,
Is there enclosures for ESS just like enclosures for HDD available. If available cheaper than buying Transcend ESS portable drive? Any suggestions or recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

You can just get a $25 USB3.0 casing from Best Bargain and insert your SSD in.

Re

I've 3x2.5 inch UASP SATA 3-to-USB 3.0 SSD portable external enclosures

1) by STARTECH
2) by inatek
3) HOTWAY Probox

The first 2 bought from amazon.com and the last from SL SQ.

All perform more or less the same with my SAMSUNG 850 PRO 512GB SSD when transferring files from them to my MS SP3.

Appreciate and thanks for the reply. Samsung 850 Pro 512GB SSD is more than $600.
Crucial MX100 512 GB at $319 is good enough for external storage drive for me.

The important thing is you are transferring from your external SSD to what i.e. to an internal HDD/SSD? Speed matching of devices is important otherwise the bottleneck will be the slower of the two devices.

I've done testing transferring files from my SAMSUNG 850 Pro 512GB SSD to ext/int HDDs and the performance was expectedly poor because HDDs are slow devices. Transferring to my SP3's internal SSD produced better result as I was able to get about half of the SAMSUNG 850 Pro spec speed.

In short, to get the best result speed transfer needs to be carried out between two identical or equivalent speed devices.

In cybermind's pricelist, i saw the following, i supposed these are ext hdd cases?

- 2.5" Hotway USB3.0 HDK-SU3: $29
- 2.5" Vantec TX 216S3: $39
- 2.5" Vantec TX 240S3: $29
- 2.5" Neo EN30 Alu: $28

Are these the adaptors, ie w/o the ext case?

- SATA to USB3.0 adapter Vantec: $39
