Sounds right. If it doesn’t turn darker means it isn’t cleaning the engine? No EO expert here.

It will turn dark in the end.
If it does not do that quickly, it could also mean the engine or driving pattern/style is efficient.

if is new then it golden color. after using awhile it should turn abit brown which is normal.

if you are really worried about engine condition then i suggest go for used oil analysis which i do it every yr or after every track day which cost about us$28.

You are a car enthusiast. Most of us should do fine with a regular change of oil so long as the oil is from a manufacturer of some reputation.

I advice you to just pay for your own DHL.

Since this is a COE car and I assume you are driving it for the next 5 years, you might just as well 'reset' the maintenance schedule. And it did 170k km already and you do not know when the last major servicing was performed or the parts replaced.

Perform an engine oil and ATF change. Change the spark plugs.
Brake pads and fluid. Check and replace if necessary.
Don't forget powersteering. If hydraulic, replace the fluid.
Replace the belts, tensioner, engine mounts.
Perform 4 wheels alignment. If tyres are old, change them.
Change water pump and replace coolent.

Basically treat this like a major servicing at 80k km. Should not cost more than 2k in all excluding tyres.

Already changed AT transmission oil and engine mounts and engine oil and tyres The rest my machanics said dont need.. got problem then change..not neccessary to do a major servicing.

Anyway after i changed AT oil, air filter and changed to 92 petrol, the ride is very much smoother now... nothing worn yet so dont need to spend to change unncessary things yet.

Last time one of my my car spark plugs also managed to go back to ws to check.. i know many malaysian they just do enginw oil change..din see them change these and that after 100k or what.. anyway i am more of a budget type. Thanks.

Yea, even injector failure car can still move but slow. Just take note of timing belt where best to change at recommended interval. For old cars, good to have free tow service too. My AA membership has served me well

2007 wrx, milage on new engine block is 40k km. daily drive using is shell 0w-40. track day motul 300v 15w50

i used my colleague account and i don't have the report with me now.
the last report was nothing out of ordinary except usually high silicone trace found. then i realize that is because i replace valve cover gasket. they suggest me changing oil at 7000km instead of the usual 5k for my engine

I am generally more cautious. Some parts fail over time and the consequences might be more acceptable.



But things like broken belts, failed water pump... might lead to an engine overhaul, which most people would like avoid. Even spark plugs should be changed at the recommended intervals as they might crack and break and extraction would be an headache.



The comparison with Malaysians... well... its cheaper and less onerous for repairs as compared to SG. Engine replacement for example.
