i'll be going for a school trip to Osaka / Nara next week for 6 days and everything is provided. food + accommodation.

and i'm curious
how much "pocket money" is enough to bring there like for shopping/souveniers and stuff?

and on top of that where can I purchase data sim card for phone?

For souvenirs, maybe about 200-400 SGD extra?

Souvenir part is like what can mentioned, but shopping wise we probably can't advise on that since we don't know your spending habits, but if you're going for electronic devices or things along that line you could probably activate your credit card or just bring along extra cash after you've done a little research on prices of items you want to get there.

If you are on a school trip, I dont see why you will need a data sim card or wifi. There is free wifi almost every cafe or shop. http://www.softbank.jp/en/mobile/special/freewifi/en/

I usually get my data sim from Taobao. Costs about SGD 8 for 8days Unlimited data (Controlled bandwidth). So to me the Mifi from Changi is super expensive.
