Entering names when booking tickets

Say your name is Tan Ah Kow, do you put Tan as family name, and then Ahkow as first name or Ah Kow? I always put as one word Ahkow, but suddenly Krisflyer refused mileage claim as my profile in KF is Tan Ah Kow. Previously flights no issue but this time? Anyway, just want to know for future flights, should I enter first name as Ah Kow or Ahkow? What is the correct practice?

Actually in the airlines systems like all no spacing wan, strings of alphabets.... u see as tanahkow... space or no space no difference... but I dunno now any change recently

You should always type in your name same as your passport. If Ah Kow has a space in your passport, you should have that space instead of Ahkow.

When the airline print your ticket it is up to them to add or remove the spaces in your name but the KrisFlyer system should have your full name same as the passport. I think KrisFlyer/SIA is removing this discrepancy where in the past they allow you to shorten your name.

My question is generally itv seems 'Mary Yeo" will suffice. As long as Mary is in your official name in the passport.

Why would you want to do? It's that difficult to input the full name as in the passport for your flights?

You are sure you are the only 'Mary Yeo' in the world? Someone could travel on your purchased air ticket should the name match.

Yea it works fine although might have problems at checkin.

Same w claiming mileage if the "ah lian" is listed as middle or first name.

I would recommend to change your KF account name to the same format as what's indicated at the bottom of passport biometric page (the one with the scannable code). This is to align your flight tickets, airline program and visa/entry registration (US and Australia for example).

It will make your life a whole lot easier. An airline service assistant thought me that, when I was called to get my miles credited.

don't give wrong info lei. last name is SURNAME.

See the example. Wong is the family name aka surname aka last name. see how it appears at the bottom of the page.

Last name is the surname.

first and last names do not mean in terms of 'position'/sequence of the names.

Bro, my passport name sequence is different to air ticket issued.

Passport: TIMOTHY TAN HUAT KUEH
Air Ticket: HUAT KUEH TIMOTHY TAN

How arghh?
