I have the Olympus and I think it's an excellent choice as a travel camera. The 5-axis stabilisation is really effective in darker places like churches or evening walks.
I'm personally using the OMD EM1 mark 2, but I am used to shooting Canon previously so even their biggest camera is small and light to me! My wife shoots using the OMD EM10. I really like the m43 system for their high quality yet small lenses and I don't agree that the Sony system can compare even with 3rd party lenses. True that Sony has high quality lenses too, but the high quality lenses are invariably large compared to m43 lenses.
Which model did you get? Also did you get both the kit lenses?
I have EM10 mk II with both kit lenses. Usually travel with an extra Lumix 20mm/F1.7 for those really dark situations. All small size and easy to pack and not heavy to go around, especially if going to places where you have to hike a bit.

While researching, I read some sentiments four third system will die but seems like it is still thriving.![]()

I vote the the olympus.
M43 is compact and on most usage they are more then enough. Is a lght weight travel camera and with wide lens selection. I using PEN-F now.
As for Sony has high quality lenses their price also quite high and their APS-C lens felt limited (since the last time i check)
Went to try out the Olympus OMD M10 II just now. Despite being an entry level camera, it feels damn sold. Built like a tank. Should I get both kit lenses? Or just get one and explore other options?
Now I see another option in M5, which is weather-sealed and comes with 14-150 lens which provides plenty of convenience, instead of carrying 2 lenses. However, it is $600 more.![]()

Depends how much you willing to spend.
The E-M5 is solid build and the 14-150 lens does most of the job just that a is f4-5.6 a little hard to use when in low light. You got motion blur because of the slow shutter (take moving object like human and kids) but if taking static object the IBIS does the job.
