Hi, I've seen the entry requirements for 2 courses i'm interested in. And they have the same requirements:

Minimum Entry Requirements
English Language (EL1)* Grades 1-6
Mathematics (E or A) Grades 1-6
Any three other subjects, excluding CCA Grades 1-6

To be eligible for selection, you must also have sat for at least one of the following subjects: Art/Art & Design, Business Studies, Combined Humanities, Commerce, Commercial Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Higher Art, Higher Music, Introduction to Enterprise Development, Literature in English/ Chinese/ Malay/ Tamil, Media Studies (English Language), Media Studies (Chinese Language), Music, Principles of Accounts.

But by "you must also have sat for at least one of the following subjects", does it just mean you just have to sit for the paper (and it's okay to fail), or does it have to be a pass? Since they alr said any 3 other subjects at the top.

Sit for.

However, entry requirements for polytechnic courses are calculated by ELR2B2 - English, 2 relevant subjects and 2 best subjects. The subjects listed there are most likely relevant to the course and will be taken into consideration when populating your aggregate score.

Cut-off points vary between courses but anything more than 20 points, you're most likely unable to get in. A fail is anything between 7 to 9 points (D7-F9), which makes up almost half of your 20 points already.

The entry requirements are the bare minimum. You'll need more than that since admission is very competitive.

From my understanding, "sit for" is just took the subject. But if you fail that subject, it would probably make your application less attractive. Just make sure your humanities don't fail, and you meet the other requirements. And score the required L1R4 grades!
