Hi

I am looking at some suggestions for an entry or mid level NAS storage system with RAID. Budget would be around 300 to 400 dollars. Mainly used for storing photos (a lot) and movies.

Does anyone have any suggestions for brands or models?

Thank you.

D-Link NAS. Cheap and reasonably good.

Don't expect it to be as good as Synology or QNAP however.

I have decided to get a Synology DS214SE. (mainly using it for storage and backup, not so much for streaming)

Does anyone know which shop in SLS offer competitive prices?

Took a look at the various price list of the usual shops and so far it seems only Fuwell has that.

Looking at adding 2 x 4TB HDD to it as well...thanks

Any suggestions would be welcome.

During the recent Sitex 2015

216SE - $217 (Ace)

Fuwell is ripping people off by selling it at
216SE - $257
214SE - $207

Why not the 216SE? 214SE in Synology is already EOL.

If can wait, i will advise to wait till next IT Show 2016 or contact Ace Peripherals to see if you could get it cheaper.

If you need to get it asap and can't afford to wait, you can PM me for more details.

ok thanks all for comments and suggestions.

I will do some research on DS216SE and have contacted ACE.

Not needed urgently but I would like to backup important pictures and data asap.

Is it just me or is Fuwell pricing no longer as competitive as it used to be? Found some of their products priced higher as compared to the past.....just my 2cents.

Were they ever once competitive? iirc, they are always expensive but people still go to them because they are much more reliable/reputable.

These days, if you know your stuffs & price - most shops are alright.

Fuwell's synology distro is EA.

I recently got a NAS /w HDDs (not synology) from them and they were able to price match for me, which is $100 less.

can list nas and hdd price respectively so that we could determine if they really did price match?

So I called Ace and they came back with this pricing

Ds216se barebone is 216

Thought of getting a bundle from them with HDD and told them to give me a price quote and this was it..

216se with 2 x 3T (either seagate or WD red) is 560

216se with 2 x 4T(either seagate of WD red) is 720

It is rather exp for the bundle...am I right?

Is there a better place to get a fair pricing for either 2x 3T/4T HDD?

Thanks
