ask AI lah. so lazy.
Based on the search results provided, the key issues that the ERP 2.0 system in Singapore is trying to address are:
  1. Limitations of the existing ERP system:
    • The current ERP system, which relies on fixed pricing and physical gantries, is rigid and does not respond adequately to real-time traffic conditions. 12
  2. Improving traffic management and congestion control:
    • The ERP 2.0 system, which is satellite-based, aims to introduce more dynamic pricing based on factors like distance traveled to better manage traffic flow and congestion. 124
  3. Upgrading outdated technology:
    • The existing ERP system is described as a "relic from 22 years ago" that is nearing its operational limits, necessitating an upgrade to newer technology. 12
  4. Providing enhanced features for motorists:
    • The new OBU (on-board unit) for ERP 2.0 is designed to offer additional features like real-time traffic updates, map displays, and safety alerts to improve the driving experience. 13
  5. Potential replacement of the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) system:
    • There are suggestions that the ERP 2.0 system, with its ability to detect and charge based on vehicle location and distance, could potentially replace the COE system in the future. 4
In summary, the key issues the ERP 2.0 system is trying to address are the limitations of the existing ERP system, improving traffic management and congestion control, upgrading outdated technology, providing enhanced features for motorists, and potentially replacing the COE system.

it’s so that don’t need to set up erp gantry, can have virtual gantry anywhere and most speculate in future can charge for usage by distance
