you need eSATA Card with Power inorder to use this cable.

Normal eSATA port cannot power up your HDD/SSD

What I did is to pull one sata and power cable outside the pc casing.

Alternatively, go get a esata enclosure for 3.5" HDD. This will definitely comes with a power adaptor.
