For my case I asked my Phillips broker who sent me a form that I filled up and they sent it to E-trade. After that I called E-trade to inquire about the USD cash and they credited USD25 into my account (for wire transfer fee) after which I then did a wire transfer back to SG.

You have no position to transfer?

Everything from my etrade account has been transferred to my IB except $60. I called Etrade customer service, they told me the remaining $60 is a wire fee which will be waived off and transfer within 2 business week to the same IB acc.
still trying to. the customer service is terrible.

anyone managed to transfer without any fuss?

You could have done an full transfer of positions and cash from etrade to IB.

Yes I was told they have a glitch in the system which still charges fees for transfer of positions and cash. I got my $60 refunded into my etrade account despite my position and cash were all transferred to IB already. Etrade told me they will transfer the balance 60 to my IB account in a week's time.

Hi highsulphur, thanks for the update. My transfer to IB just happened and their glitch is still in place ie. transfer fees of 60 USD was deducted.

Try speaking to Etrade Singapore. They are more responsive

Looking for alternative

Hi All,
Well , I'm in the same position as I have to look for alternative as well , but for me etrade was not just a broker , it was an alternative to a bank in USA , ( I can use it to issue paper cheques, accept ACH in USD , link it with Paypal and download / upload money from and to paypal in USD ) ..

They don't charge me fees for ACH nor for checks ,
I have append my account back in 2005 with etrade US not Etrade Singapore (etrade SG was not yet exist ) , but I'm affected with the new closure decision .

BTW , I have IB account , but cannot link it to paypal , cannot even accept 3rd party transfer in or out, no paper cheques. so it is not good alternative for me ..

So now I'm looking for a broker that can offer paper cheques , give an account number that can link to paypal ( to do ACH in USD ) ,

Any help would be so much appreciated .
