I would like to know which electric vehicle sold in Singapore does not have a companion phone app.

How do you handle your EV charging monitoring

Are there any inconveniences faced

Due to the small market, the manufacturers may not want to provide app support for Singapore

Owners, please share your experiences.

According to Google -

The Toyota App (or regional equivalents like MyToyota / MyT) is the official companion application used to monitor and remotely manage the Toyota bZ4X.

Key Features

-EV & Battery Status: Check current battery percentage, estimated driving range, and real-time charging progress.
-Remote Climate Control: Pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin temperature before your journey.
-Charging Schedules: Set and manage smart charging times.
-Remote Controls: Lock or unlock the doors, locate your vehicle in a parking lot, and check vehicle status alerts.
-Service & Maintenance: Track vehicle health and schedule service appointments (such as through Borneo Motors Singapore locally).

Connected services is how dealers/principals continue to milk subscription fees ..

Mercedes have app, besides the basic charging statuses etc pay more subscription unlock more remote functions ...

If no car app means u will only find out from EV charge provider apps .. like when u r about to kenna idle fees .. that is sians..

Toyota in AP region, and Subaru (same car basically) don't offer the app.
No 12v drain and probably saves them some money on the cloud and maintenance..
For some, that's a big turn off, so they aren't the top sellers but for old school buyers who want a simple transition from an ICE to a EV and wants a reliable, simple EV that's well made and all Japanese, these two are the ones... so far 188 customers for the BZ4x this year. Not enough to make a huge dent in the BYD sales charts for sure.... but enough to make sure support and after sales exist for it..

=> no need so troublesome to install app to use the EV.
Wondering how Borneo Motor communicates to the customers.
.
And lose out on the benefits of owning a tech car? Its like buying a house but sleeping on the corridor instead.

Mostly have. Aion i heard y plus base model and es dont have. The rest have. Dongfeng i believed dont have. Deepal and leapmotor maybe also dont have. Last heard MG app is buggy but for the old mg4 only. Other mg models not sure.

Anyway u dont need the app to monitor charging. I believed most or all ev will show approx charging time on the car screen. Just follow the time and go back your car to unplug it.

Leapmotor have, though it's fairly basic like the BYD's

Sure there are supporters.

If someone has started off EV ownership with companion app and later switch to no app support, I am not sure how to get used to it.

EV software is still relatively new, if encountered serious bugs, it will have long delay to get back to dealer to update. Most of the time will end up with no solution.

Personally, I depend on the app a lot as I always forgot I locked the doors or not, and also to cool down the car before reaching it as well as check my charging speed/status, I guess spoilt already. Hahaha. Cannot live without app despite the app is still sucky.

BZ4X think more on the toyota hardcore supporters will get ba, saw one in my MSCP before, I'll withold my comments as my cat also not very chio.

Yes no comment on subjective topics .

The keyless entry, remote aircond control, door open are pretty handy ,
remote battery level monitoring is useful as sometimes really forgotten what battery level the car has .

Remote camera monitoring is great too under some usage scenarios

It's not the kind of car that wows the young who are used to all touchscreens..
But not everyone wants that and a sleek look..
If you come from an ICE car, and want a simple transition, this car checks those boxes
- buttons and physical switches for all the essential functions
- all Japanese build quality, even the battery, the aircon etc
- real SUV roots courtesy of the Subaru collaboration
- not everyone wants to reach into the touchscreen to adjust almost everything
But yes, apps are helpful and like another bro said, if you grew up with apps, voice commands and such, this kind of interface isn't the kind of environment that you may want regress to
The modern new Chinese EV has sleek interface, soft touches and motorised everything. Now imagine that door motor going faulty a few years later only to find a long queue of owners waiting for spares.
But hey, different car for different owners...

In short, it's for those who can't move with technology and just needs a car, then they probably don't even need an EV. A toyota crown or 30 year old corolla is way better.

Mazda's design usually very homely, very comfortable, makes you feel natural, machiam like 车人合一 kind of feeling.

Very intuitive. It's not so much about how many controls are in the screen, but with EV coming up as a tech device, there are too many things to depend using buttons, so they have to put some into the car's digital system.

My previous Mazda already quite a lot of controls was in their 7" infotainment screen, like parking lock, walk away lock, wipers...

If everything can put into buttons... I think the whole car only buttons
