Lol they’re Vietnamese. They’ve appeared in Vietnamese news liao.

Yeah. It’s the Vietnamese resellers I mentioned the other days. Since 5 days ago, they will remind the staff that they are there everyday

lower the better.

Not necessarily. The lower the f.stop of the lens, it will definitely bring in the advantages of lower depth of field (more bokeh) and more light gathering. But depending on the lens quality, there higher chance of flaring, loss of sharpness away from the center and other issues.

APPLE LIMITS EXTENDED IPHONE X TESTING FOR MOST REVIEWERS

Traditional publications and tech outlets that in past years received review models for a week of testing were given the iPhone X fewer than 24 hours ago, resulting in crash reviews and first-impression takes from USA Today, the Washington Post, the Verge and others.

In the U.S., BuzzFeed, TechCrunch and Mashable were given a week with the iPhone X, as were the Telegraph and the Independent in the United Kingdom. The device also was given for a week to outlets in Japan, China, Australia and other countries. Stephen Levy of Wired, among the handful of people to test the first-ever iPhone, spent a week with the iPhone X and posted his “first look” impressions a day before most other publications.
so the usual 1 week usage before actual release date is no longer a thing from Apple. and the choices are rather random.

some are not happy.

Lance Ulanoff, in his review for Mashable:

During my first 24 hours of using the iPhone X, I helplessly pressed the space where a button should be. It’s a kind of Phantom Home Button Syndrome that I expect all iPhone X owners will experience in the early days.
beware of/prepare for phantom pain guys.

regarding that OLED..
Panzarino, on the iPhone X’s OLED display:

I hate to say it, but it makes the iPhone 8 Plus LCD look kind of like butt. I love it, even though it is flawed in one noticeable way.

The one area where this display falls prey to standard OLED gripes is in off-axis viewing. Apple tells me that it has done work to counter the drop in saturation and shift to blue that affects OLED screens traditionally. I can tell you that, compared to other OLED screens, you have to get further “off of center” to see a real shift in color, holding the phone 30 degrees or more off of dead on. But it is still there. For people who share their phone’s screen or use it at odd angles a lot, it will be noticeable. On some phones, OLEDs go super blue. On the iPhone X it’s more of a slight blue shift with a reduction in saturation and dynamic range. It’s not terrible, but it definitely exists.

The stainless steel band should be easily susceptible to scratches and wear right?

Stainless steel is more resistant against scratches and wear. However, due to the chrome finishing, scratches will be more prevalent but they can be buff off easily.

The syndrome will be there only for a couple of days. After that everything will feel natural. Heck, you have to get used to it since there won't be home button for subsequent release.

As for the OLED, Apple has done amazing job for the colour shift issue. They are the only manufacturer to have the least colour shift issue from their display. Every display by Apple is calibrated, all the way down to the individual pixel, just before they leave the factory. So the display you get is the "Apple Standard Display".

not quite sure about home button going away. especially on the iPad side of things. there is no need to go bezel-less for iPad. or is there?

the gesture differences between iPhone and iPad will get daunting going forward.

Maybe but nobody will know and the next major iPad tech refresh might take another 2 years? Will have to get used to missing home button for at least a week.

To be honest, just port over the face ID and the iPad can by touchID-less. lol.

Wondering how we can force close a frozen app without home button. Hope the up swiping works even when app is frozen/jammed.

Also, how to immediately go to first page of the home screen from say the fourth page. Pressing home button does the trick for current phones.

Why worry about the status? You already know the date to self collect, that day just go down to self collect. Do not worry about the status, this is just a phone.
