Because Windows 10 DRM games suck? I played Rise of the Tomb Raider (windows 10 store version) with a GTX1080 at 4k60fps during launch vs PS4 Pro 4k30fps and surprising the experience is better on the PS4 Pro.

Microsoft shld have listed their first party games on Steam instead.

There are serious limitations when it comes to making use of your graphics hardware. Some graphics settings also can’t be changed:

"No SLI or CrossFire: If you have multiple NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards using SLI or CrossFire, the Windows Store version won’t be good for you. It doesn’t support SLI or CrossFire, although the Steam version does.

VSync is Always On: VSync is designed to eliminate screen tearing, but it can have downsides–like adding input lag, or decreasing game performance. If you have the Steam version, you can choose whether or not you want to use VSync. On the Windows Store version, it’s always enabled.

Always Borderless Fullscreen Mode: The Store version will always run in “borderless fullscreen” mode, also known as “fullscreen (windowed)” mode. This ensures Alt+Tab will work properly and the game won’t take over your entire display. However, it means the game can’t have exclusive access to your graphics card, so you can’t get the best possible performance. The Steam version gives you the option of using exclusive fullscreen mode."

Don't see how no support for SLI/Xfire would cause the win10 version to perform worse than the ps4pro version. A GTX 1080 is already twice as powerful as the ps4pro, why would anyone need 2 to do better?

There is noticeable input lag on the ps4pro version too, Vsync can't possibly cause the win10 version to have worse input lag than that.

Unless you are running some seriously heavy crap in the background, windowed mode isn't going to make much of a difference.

i think the input lag could be due to unstable frame rate and could be a limitation of the CPU. 60fps is still the gold standard.

next up Bethesda @12PM according to post#1.
not too sure why they need a show unless they got something new to share. Fallout? Elder's Scroll?

Spec is not everything. This game is originally made for consoles. The pc version is a bad port and does not run as optimized as on console.

https://www.destructoid.com/pc-port-report-rise-of-the-tomb-raider-336747.phtml

"That's peanuts, though, compared to the biggest problem with Rise of the Tomb Raider’s port: the numerous, terrible, and sometimes even game-breaking performance issues. It’s worth noting that I have a new, beefy PC that is way above the already fairly high minimum requirements, and yet I still suffered from inconsistent framerates and memory usage problems that made playing Rise a chore.
At some points, I was able to enjoy a solid, smooth, and stutter-free 60FPS, but then only a minute later my game would be dragged down to a low of 20FPS for seemingly no reason.
For example, a very chaotic set-piece with lots of explosions, snow, and flying debris had a totally stable 60FP, but then I was lucky to get 25 in the small, dark, undetailed cave that immediately followed it. I’ve even gone to an area running at 60FPS, briefly ducked into a cave, only to come back out in the exact same place and find the game was now running at 40FPS instead.
Even putting the game on the lowest possible graphics quality settings didn't help, which makes me think this probably will affect everyone regardless of the strength of their rig. Sometimes it was using upwards of 6GB RAM, even in relatively quiet and simple areas.
This is the only game I have ever had crash due to my PC running out of memory, and on 16GB of brand new RAM and a new video card with 4GB VRAM, that shouldn’t be happening. It especially shouldn’t be happening after only about an hour of play. I don't want to definitively say this is a memory leak, but it sure as hell feels like one. "

Well none of the scorpio games that are also on win10 are "console ports" so this is a moot point.

I'm talking about the scorpio "exclusives, not multi platform games. Whatever that is "exclusive" on the scorpio will also be released simultaneously on the PC so they can't be console ports.'

Only good thing about the scorpio is the price, its lower than I thought it would be, don't know how MS is pulling this off, they are probably going to lose money on every console thats sold.

Its the same thing isn't it? Being xbox play anywhere only means its crossbuy and crossplay, doesn't guarantee that the PC versions are done better than those of multiplats.

Unlikely to be console ports if its a simultaneous release, but we'll see.

Sony and Xbox player base have been separated since forever and its never been a problem. Competition is healthy for the industry, it'd be bad if Steam had a monopoly, MS is competing in both the PC and the console market, that can only be a good thing for consumers.

to me i hate Sony's E3. they announce games that are way off the year. liked announcing games that are planned for 2018 in 2016. and chances are some of those games wont even make it in 2018 :s13:

maybe this E3 will be all about PSVR :s22:

- Isn't Xbox E3 conference guilty of that as well?
2014, Announces Cuphead. Then every year show Cuphead till 2017. :s13:

- Xbox announces Scalebound. Then in the end, cancelled.

- So out of the 22 exclusives, most of them will be coming to PC. Then out of those 22, some of them are 2D side scrolling games. Sega 4K era ah? :s13:

On to the real business. This is almost like the repeat of the PS2 vs Xbox era where PS2 has most games and when Xbox released, it was a more powerful console but it doesn't really have any games.

That is why most people usually just stick to PS4 and PC and maybe a Switch.

Think about it. Some Xbox games are playable on PC. So why would I buy the Xbox One X where I'll have to pay for subscriptions to play online when I can just play the PC (Windows 10) version and still play against you there?

No you didn't get my point. I'm not talking about the games that will also be available on other platforms, I'm talking about scorpio/win10 exclusives, I don't think microsoft studios will mess up the PC version since they will selling it in their own stores exclusively. This isn't like arkham knight or some other 3rd party game that was designed to run first on foremost on consoles.

going PC, then you have to deal with driver issues
Windows Updates
viruses
modular also means you have to find a proper way to correctly diagnosis which part is faulty

Cuphead :s22: not too sure why they need to make a big deal out of it.

A lot of previous PC titles launched on the same day as console but they were still ultimately ported from the console. Its just a matter of whether its a gd or bad pc port. Even gears of war 4 is ported from the console.

It's a 4K 2D side-scrolling console ba. That's why you see so many exclusives dedicated to it.

Did anyone see the Xbox version of Rachet and Clank called Super Lucky's Tale? Just because you may have the most powerful console, what's the use when the game can't even compete graphically to the PS4 equivalent? :s13:

Windows updates? PCs can download games and updates faster than any console downloading its game. :s22: (speaking from experience of both PC and console)

Viruses? What era do you live in? Most viruses only affect older OS. And I've been free of viruses for a long while with my dependable ESET Smart Security anti-virus for years from laptop days to desktop PC.

Driver issues? If the game is Xbox exclusive, if you use the Windows 10 version which is running DX12, it is usually quite similar to the Xbox but better. See Gears of War as an example.

Have yet to have a PC game crash on me with the reason being drivers. Imagine how much stress that would be while playing Overwatch.

I got your point, and to be frank with you, the PC versions of those exclusives so far aren't as fantastic as you think. Forza, gears of war, they all had their fair share of problems on PC at launch.

The main issue about PC ports isn't because they were built for the consoles ground up. The developers of the ports were inexperienced or just half hearted about it. Batman arkham knight was outsourced to a less experienced developer who ended up messing up the port. I dunno dishonored 2 is outsourced or not but the PC port was crap as well; however Prey was from arkane studios as well same as dishonored 2, and there were no issues whatsoever. Bayonetta and vanquish were originally console games only, and yet the ports were done fantastically. Final fantasy XIII and XIII-2 were a mess on PC, but lightning returns was amazing.

Its all about experience and priorities, not because the game is a console port or not. In the first place, every game is being developed using a PC, no? You don't see ppl typing c++ codes using a dualshock 4 right? lol
