Hey guys, i have just gotten iphone 6s recently and i realise there are instances of sudden spike in data usage. I exceeded my data plan of 3gb for the first month. subsequently i tend to diligently monitoring my usage through the data manager app.

Just today when i was on the bus home, i was casually using whatsapp + bus app + pokemon go and suddenly i got an alarm from data manager saying that i have exceeded 1gb usage. So this 1 hour has clocked 500mb usage which i find it totally unbelievable. the app totally bypass the alarm for daily usage and it just suddenly jump to 500mb. my usual daily usage is lower than 100mb. When i get home, i hurry switch to wifi and off my data and then when i check the app again, it shows 200mb usage on wifi instantly.

Initially i thought it is telco issue but then if the app manager also track the same then something is wrong. Anyone has experienced something like this before?

Under settings, mobile data, you can check which app using all the data.

Yea i thought of doing that but realise i haven't reset my statistics since 2013 so its really not accurate. i just reset it and just gotta track and see which is the app that is causing the data usage. Do u guys usually reset that every month?

yes. I always reset mine.

the built-in data iOS mobile data counter is already ok. and you can know which app is using too much data. almost 99% accurate

Turn off mobile for youtube.
enable safari content blocker.
facebook running on background is also data hog
