quite a lot merchants do accept cc.
in fact amex is much better than Hsbc.

Sat. But if rates are favorable, sometimes Sat is still good. I avoid lunch time on Fri due to closure for muslims prayers (at arcade).

Believe defer conversion and use savings account.

Otherwise, coversion will be based on ATM rate IIRC.
